Bush, Jr was the second and last Boomer president. He arranged for an old-fashioned bunch of crooks like Halliburton to funnel government funds to his Friends. But all the Halliburton money is already contractually obligated to various Boomers. President Obama is from Gen X, and so is using new, modern money sinks like Cybersecurity as a way to divert massive funds to his Friends. Progress. And even Lisa approves! Gasp. (clasping chest) I’m coming to join you, mother.
With a floppy drive? I somehow doubt there’s a valuable server out there that still has a floppy drive. But nice turn of phrase; a Lisa Benson ’toon I can appreciate.
Look closely enough and you’ll see “Made in China” stamped on the keypad. And the computer case. And all the hardware inside…. Considering how deeply China’s government has its fingers in everything its private entities do, are we in the least bit surprised that we might be vulnerable to their hackers?
Cybersecurity is not a waste of money. Did you notice what happened when Wall Street manipulated money in a reckless fashion? Brought much of the world’s economy to its knees, intentional or not. Now imagine what would happen if the internet went down, or someone told the Pentagon’s computers to launch a missile…….I submit that cyberterrorism may create more mayhem than any bomb or rogue airplane.
My practice was without internet for about a week, no thanks to Verizon. Regardless, it was hard to imagine how many things we have become dependent on the web for. Try going without the web for one day.
Mix a snifter of Bill Mauldin, a dash of Jeff McNelly and a very large dollop of common sense, and you begin to get an idea of Lisa Benson’s considerable talent.
