Far truer to reality, and not even in the realm of the paranoids.

Those are the bodies of unarmed people who couldn’t defend themselves against criminals because of no-carry laws.

So if everybody has a gun then no one would get shot? Riiiiiiiight….

  5. tpenna

Right, ConserveGov. Because only unarmed people ever get shot.

Right, Ms. Ima. Lies like President Ronald Reagan, while surrounded by the most effective armed guards in the world, shot in a 1981 assassination attempt. Then, over a decade later, that same Reagan supported a ban on assault weapons.

Let me ask you something. IF (now try to imagine this) you are an armed thief standing in the shadows around an ATM waiting for someone to walk up and get cash (picture it yet?) So you’re waiting and checking out potential victims (at this point I need to pee BAD) and you have a choice. One is obviously armed and paying attention to his surroundings but getting a STACK of 20’s.

Do you get this one or do you wait for the next guy in line who is oblivious and carries no weapons?

Now I know you are not a thief and would never even think about becoming one but please answer the question. Victim one or victim two?

Yes, the conservative fantasy. The reality is that if that even if victim is armed, he has a gun trained on him. If he goes for it, he the mugger will likely shoot him. The mugger is most likely full of adrenalin, and will probably not hesitate to shoot at the slightest provocation. Or if the mugger is hiding in the shadows unseen, as is your scenario, he could just plain shoot the visibly armed victim and then take the cash.

    @Adrian Snare

You’re using England, where violent crime rates have skyrocketed since banning guns, as your example?!? Why not use Brazil? O right, because their gun crime rates are much much higher than ours, despite strict gun control laws. Why not mention Switzerland? O right, because their gun crime rates are much LOWER than our, despite widespread gun ownership. Why not compare the gun crime rates of NY and California to Vermont and New Hampshire? Why not compare the gun crime rates of cities like Chicago and DC to those of places that respect the natural human right to self-defense? O right, because those statistics don’t suit your anti-gun and anti-human agenda. Of course you’ll also ignore the many, many, many instances of private citizens using guns to defend themselves against violent criminals, which vastly outnumber instances of gun crimes. Because to “liberals”, reality isn’t what actually exists, or what’s actually true, reality is whatever is PC, whatever fits the radical leftist agenda of subjugating all people under totalitarian rule.

Well just goes to show you’ve never been in the bushes as a thief.

Do you know any nefarious people? Could you ask one of them which target is preferable?

I carry. I’m observant. I’ve seen that situation unfold and by just being there it stopped with no one – even the thief – being harmed.

But the thief was ONLY armed with a knife so maybe that was a factor and your point may have some validity. But in my case the knife went back into his pocket, the hands came to the forget it position and he turned to find easier pickings. Meanwhile the “authorities” were notified, people were warned and peace ruled the neighborhood. All because an observant person with a small concealed weapon revealed that fact at an opportune time.

    So fantasize this:

Yep, it’s just my wildest imagination that conjurers up fantasy situations that never ever happen in REAL life.

Walk up to the guy with the 20’s and take him out of course. He’s not gonna draw until he sees you make a move, unless he’s crazy. And that’s already too late. Ask any Marine who’s lost people in an ambush.

Absolutely, totally false. And “liberals” ARE fascists, most of you simply don’t understand that, because you don’t think about the things you say, or the things you pretend to believe, or what sort of principles you’ve accepted when you claim to believe something.

Oh wait, I see what you did there. You limited it to “home invasions”, so you could ignore the vast majority of examples of people using guns for self-defense.
