Get ready for your local ER to be closed twice a week once the Spendocrats get their sticky paws on it.
Stipple said, 3 months ago
I don’t get my mail in the ER so this won’t affect me.
.
The saturday service was nice but when using UPS I would not pay extra for saturday delivery and UPS does not do it for free.
Why should the post office?

Stipple – The USPS actually delivers packages for UPS and FedEx – since it is too expensive for those companies to deliver to the door anywhere but big cities and towns the contract with USPS to deliver “the last mile”.
And they will still deliver packages on Saturday, just not mail. Really Mr, Imadope & conservadope should try reading actual news instead of getting all their info from FAUX & Rush

first I think it is great that they fully fund thier retirement for 75 years all places should do that. I worked for a company for ten years and they canceled the retirement and sent us a check for 5 grand. Also I think all government pensions should be funded with today’s tax dollar that way people can really see what the cost of goverment is. And also they should close some of the post offfices we do not need the amount of offices we have. I have at least 20 within 20 miles of my house

I live in a very rural part of Kentucky, and have both a P.O. Box address in town, (About a 20 mile trip each way), and a mailbox at my physical address, (About a 1.5 mile trip each way!).
Most of my mail does come to the P.O. Box, but Fed-Ex and UPS WILL deliver to my mailbox address, since they won’t deliver to a P.O. Box address.
Of course, when the USPS was created they had NO competition, but with the advent of private package delivery services, e-mail, and the like, they have to figure out a way to cut expenses, and remain competitive, just like ANY other business should.
If the USPS could eliminate the “Bulk Mail” rate, which forces them to deliver huge amounts of “Junk Mail” at cheap rates, they would be able to streamline their services, as a lot of advertisers would stop sending out all that crap that ends up in the garbage, and in landfills, which would help to cut expenses.(Not to mention saving a heck of a lot of trees…)
Just a thought…

Really? Not True, I sent a package on Tuesday via UPS it arrived at it’s destination on Wednesday, it would have arrived 5 days later.
The Republicans wanted to cut the perks of the USPS Union, and you called The Republicans ‘Union Busters’

@masterskrain
If thery eliminated the Bulk Mail Rate, we would pay between $2 and $5 for 1st class mail to make up the difference

The USPS laid the foundation for their problems with a union that got this branch of gov’t service the highest pay and pensions in civil service. The legislators made it more untenable by raiding the pension fund which is now the biggest cost for USPS. The internet has so reduced the amount of mail being sent as to make the USPS nearly superfluous. It is an important part of our infrastructure, but it has been nearly designed to fail over the next few years. It is a sad thing;

AND Fedex drags their ar$es so it takes them 2 times as long to get the package to the local PO than if it had been originally sent by USPS Priority Mail—which is only about 2/3rds the cost of Fedex to begin with.
That was my experience with two orders the last two weeks.

But it is not the fault of Congress, but rather the fault of unions.
Stipple said, 3 months ago
@HOWGOZIT
My point was the USPS is providing a free service other companies require payment for.
.
The fact that these other companies take advantage of USPS providing below cost service exaberates the problem.
.
I have no problem with a level playing field.
It is congress’s job to provide the rules.

Imadope and conservadope are totally brainwashed and incapable of original thought. I don’t know why anyone bothers replying to them.
