first I think it is great that they fully fund thier retirement for 75 years all places should do that. I worked for a company for ten years and they canceled the retirement and sent us a check for 5 grand. Also I think all government pensions should be funded with today’s tax dollar that way people can really see what the cost of goverment is. And also they should close some of the post offfices we do not need the amount of offices we have. I have at least 20 within 20 miles of my house
The USPS laid the foundation for their problems with a union that got this branch of gov’t service the highest pay and pensions in civil service. The legislators made it more untenable by raiding the pension fund which is now the biggest cost for USPS. The internet has so reduced the amount of mail being sent as to make the USPS nearly superfluous. It is an important part of our infrastructure, but it has been nearly designed to fail over the next few years. It is a sad thing;Respectfully,C.
AND Fedex drags their ar$es so it takes them 2 times as long to get the package to the local PO than if it had been originally sent by USPS Priority Mail—which is only about 2/3rds the cost of Fedex to begin with.
That was my experience with two orders the last two weeks.
By the way, the PO just implemented a new policy accepting Fedex, UPS and other couriers at the PO if you have a box and not a street mailbox. I use it all the time and it’s great. You just have them ship to the physical address of the PO. They have a signature on file so you don’t even have to sign for it. No more packages left out in the rain.
GOP put unreasonable pension funding requirements on the USPS because they want to get rid of unions. In that sense, it’s the unions’ fault… just for existing.
The reason that bulk mail is so cheap is that it’s very cheap for the USPS to deliver, and they profit on every piece. It’s the first-class, hand-written envelopes that cost them, since they aren’t allowed to jack the rates up. Fed Ex and UPS charge, what, twenty times the rate to deliver to your mail box?
remember congress is micro managing them that the inmates running the asylum they cant run congress so why do they think they can run usps down with republacrats
funny everyone enjoys the benefits that unions fought for sound like everyone belives like koch bros no unemployment, min wage osha to keep boss from killing you, wage&hour rules ,40 hr week 8hr day overtime welcome to 1800s think scrooge in christmas carol
I no longer get tons of mail. Your comment made me weigh what came in yesterday, which only had six pieces. It came to less than seven ounces including the catalogs. Cmas brought me 30 pieces of cards/letters which is down from the 70+ I used to get. I get roughly the same amount electronically. It still is well below a ton. My comment is still valid. The do not call list is being subverted by oversea phishers according to a story on NPR. Rachel from ‘cardholder services’ is stalking me.Be well, oh Lord of Self.Respectfully,C.

Get ready for your local ER to be closed twice a week once the Spendocrats get their sticky paws on it.

But it is not the fault of Congress, but rather the fault of unions.

Imadope and conservadope are totally brainwashed and incapable of original thought. I don’t know why anyone bothers replying to them.
