The treaty is based on existing USA law and is meant to protect Americans and others in countries where there is much discrimination against the handicapped. It is not “giving law in America to the UN”, it is the UN adopting an American standard. Your rabid distrust of John Kerry aside, the ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT you seem to fear can NOT happen in our nation in the foreseeable future. Standing against this bill only makes it harder for our citizens traveling abroad to find access to the protections and help they get in our borders. You do harm to your neighbors with this attitude, unless you are already one of those Americans who feel the disabled are an unwanted burden on our financial system and whose entitlements are bankrupting our nation. I hope you never have to experience this attitude from a wheelchair, or while using a cane to find your way down a city street, or to find a good school for a child or grandchild with disabilities. Respectfully,C.
