I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry!
Laugh, because these idiots are SO hopeless, or cry for exactly the same reason!

“The bottom line is not one American law is affected by this treaty. No one gets any new rights. No one would have access to an American court. There is nothing to fear in this treaty, but there are people who use the treaty to drum up the fear of primaries and politics and opposition,” Kerry said.
If John Kerry said this then it must be the opposite. I am against giving law in America to the UN. That would be the beginning of the end of our freedoms.

Ima, this treaty would protect Americans with disabiities overseas. The treaty is based on existing USA law and is meant to protect Americans and others in countries where there is much discrimination against the handicapped. It is not “giving law in America to the UN”, it is the UN adopting an American standard. Your rabid distrust of John Kerry aside, the ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT you seem to fear can NOT happen in our nation in the foreseeable future. Standing against this bill only makes it harder for our citizens traveling abroad to find access to the protections and help they get in our borders. You do harm to your neighbors with this attitude, unless you are already one of those Americans who feel the disabled are an unwanted burden on our financial system and whose entitlements are bankrupting our nation.
I hope you never have to experience this attitude from a wheelchair, or while using a cane to find your way down a city street, or to find a good school for a child or grandchild with disabilities.
Respectfully,
C.

Can you imagine how badly Ima’s head will explode if Kerry ends up as Secretary of State??

So much for the “conservative” mantra “Protect Our Troops.”

@Respectful Troll
In principle I stand with you, but the treaty has clauses in it that are so open ended that U. N. bureaucrats involved in enforcement of this treaty could almost arbitrarily decide what is and is not a violation.

Thanks GOP! Who knows? The UN no-knock house raids might’ve been next.

And your source of this information is…. Rush?? Ima? Or someone Really reliable like Glenn Beck?

@masterskrain
Kerry won’t be Secretary of State (nor will Warren). That would open the door for Scott Brown to run for Senate.

@Ms. Ima
I see you’re of the same mindset as Rick Santorum. “If it doesn’t come from good, clean, white Christian America, it’s an evil communist plot to enslave us all!”
Apparently you believe our country to be so weak and defenseless as to be a pushover for those black UN helicopters. Or maybe you just pine for the days of Reagan, when (you thought that) white Americans ruled the world.

@PlainBill
Sorry, No. The treaty. Something you could have looked up yourself before making your snide comment.

If you had a child born blind, missing a limb, autistic, with Down syndrome, deaf or any number of calamities that can happen both inside the womb and in life, you would see how wrong the GOP view of a part of the 47%.
They have no sense of right and wrong, morality or compassion for others.

The only way this treaty would benefit Americans abroad is if the signatory countries implement the provisions of the treaty for the benefit of said countries’ own citizens. And yes, if we sign the treaty we do give up some sovereign rights to comply with the treaty. If you wish to read the treaty the text can be found at:
♦
http://www2.ohchr.org/english/law/disabilities-convention.htm#45
♦
Some of the text seems innocuous enough at first glance, but, when considered a second or third time, is not (at least to me). I support the basic tenets of the treaty as presented in the preamble, but there are several statements in some of the articles that I find very “iffy” as to a society’s ability to comply.
