The treaty is based on existing USA law and is meant to protect Americans and others in countries where there is much discrimination against the handicapped. It is not “giving law in America to the UN”, it is the UN adopting an American standard. Your rabid distrust of John Kerry aside, the ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT you seem to fear can NOT happen in our nation in the foreseeable future. Standing against this bill only makes it harder for our citizens traveling abroad to find access to the protections and help they get in our borders. You do harm to your neighbors with this attitude, unless you are already one of those Americans who feel the disabled are an unwanted burden on our financial system and whose entitlements are bankrupting our nation. I hope you never have to experience this attitude from a wheelchair, or while using a cane to find your way down a city street, or to find a good school for a child or grandchild with disabilities. Respectfully,C.

So much for the “conservative” mantra “Protect Our Troops.”

Thanks GOP! Who knows? The UN no-knock house raids might’ve been next.

Kerry won’t be Secretary of State (nor will Warren). That would open the door for Scott Brown to run for Senate.

If you had a child born blind, missing a limb, autistic, with Down syndrome, deaf or any number of calamities that can happen both inside the womb and in life, you would see how wrong the GOP view of a part of the 47%. They have no sense of right and wrong, morality or compassion for others.

In a perfect world, the men in blue helmets would come hunting you down and take you away never to be heard from again. You and the rest of your ilk.

Another obscure Senate rule: anything brought up in the first day of the legislative session only needs 51 votes to pass.

This means we can re-institute the rules for filibuster on the first day of the session. Won’t it be fun to watch C-Span while the idiots who want to keep votes from being held will have to continue talking to be able to enforce the filibuster? Maybe we will be able to accomplish something for a change, and not be held hostage by a small minority, who at this point only need to mention the word Filibuster (BetelgeuseBetelgeuse!) to force a supermajority vote.

There may be help on the way for the Senate. There is a contingent of Democrats, including Elizabeth Warren, that want to change the filibuster rules.

I always love how people are so afraid of the UN. The UN can’t even collect its back payments. These stupid UN treaties are nothing more than words on paper. Sign the damn thing, smile during the photo op that shows what a good nation you are for signing and then let it get filed with the rest of the trash. .On the other hand, I’m always suspicious of what’s really going on behind the curtain when the news is blabbering about this useless crap.
