Functioning congress? With no taxes there’d be no money to pay them, so there’d be no congress at all. Or anything else, for that matter. Iran could waltz right in and take us over.

Yep, creditors do get irked when bills don’t get paid. That’s a fact of life. The government could cut enough spending that they wouldn’t have to take taxes. But that’s just another ride in fantasyland.

so far as i’m concerned, since deficits didn’t matter under bush and his two wars and special interest corporate giveaways to the bank practically bankrupted us, i certainly am fine with obama spending what is necessary on non-war, non-bank bailouts – like to educate our kids so we can compete with the world, and not give a damn about what the republicans say. the republicans are a self-serving bunch of “i got mine you don’t get yours” liars.
plus they are happy to sell the country up the river to steal from our treasury. treasonous worms.
