“Well Mike, I told you to put it away three times. Consider this a lesson in taking care of your things.”

A new bike will cost about as much as they made at the yard sale.

Elle would have been better off just donating money. This is going to wind up really costing her.

You’re right, but she and her husband will wind up buying him a replacement bike.

Just check out the garage sales tomorrow and buy Mike a better bike. If you look around you can always find a good selection of bikes at garage sales and they are usually cheap because parents don’t want to deal with bikes that the kids have outgrown.

They didn’t make the money for themselves, it goes to the library’s fund. They will be out the money for the replacement bike. Things like this ought to be put away somewhere so no one mistakes it for a sale item. Maybe he ought to have taken it to a neighbour’s garage.

I’m sure the bike will turn up. This is a humor comic strip, not “Adventures in Bad Parenting,” as some here would have it.

With the amount of money that John charges for fees in his dentistry practice, THAT’S NOT A PROBLEM!! The family can afford to buy Michael and kind of customized bike he wants!!!!! I remember in later years of the strip they bought an antiques store that cost them a pretty penny, but the investment quadrupled their income!!!
