sort of figured it would either be a monster mutant or a topsider.

Oh, no. That’s one of those video seeker things.
The ditto invisibiltiy shield seemed like a perfect idea, except for one flaw: the human element.

Invisibility is great, especially when you shout at your friends “hey, look, I’m invisible!”

Despite Holly’s reassuring words, she is one messed up mouse. Notice the wild eyes and tears in panel two.

She’s in the same state she was in when she ran to the tower.

Holly dear, this is SOOOO not the time to have a meltdown! This is going to lead us into another of Aaron’s awesome cliffhangers!

Keep in mind, anthro-mutants are still subject to the hormones, instincts and physical characteristics of their animal type. What is a mouse going to do when panicked or under extreme stress?

A moment in bad timing! This isn’t the time for Holly to bolt, for she and Wally are in enemy territory with high tech spying devices in the air (as well as on the ground) and the ever present danger of a Topsider patrol finding them. Given what our beloved mouse has been through, she picked the wrong time to snap.

Waitaminute!!! She’s running in a freaking sling!? That second panel makes it look like she’s pumping both arms as she’s running. I’m no doctor, but that can’t be good.

Not bad timing to snap. She snapped some time ago while in custody. This is PTSD at work. Does not need war to cause it. Any traumatic event can cause it. Shootings, serious medical illnesses, deep repressed memories from something that really affected you. All and more can cause someone to “snap”.
Holly snapped while in incarceration. All those memories came flooding back from her experience with Lyn. She is running from those feelings, recklessly needless to say. Wally has got to get Holly to release those memories just like she did for his. However Holly is a girl. Women are good for getting us men to face our feelings but getting women to face theirs sometimes is a battle to say the least. It is worth it but sure can be a struggle of wills. When a woman says “I don’t want to talk about it.” try to get her to talk about it. Like Wally you may have to chase her down, tackle her, and hold her till she lets it out. No matter how much it may hurt.
