It's the End of Civilization as we know it. A mutagenic plague followed by a global war fought with disintegration weaponry has left much of the Earth a desert of fine powder and what remains of humanity fragmented into humans, animal-like mutants and bloodthirsty monstrosities with lots of teeth. The surface, still teeming with the mutagenic virus, has become the domain of the dreaded Topsiders; well-organized, technologically advanced, and heavily armed un-mutated humans sworn to exterminate mutations of any kind in order to clear the way for the eventual resurgence of a new, genetically clean humanity. Faced with annihilation, mutants and "impure" humans have retreated into the depths of the planet to form communities and hope to win, or at least survive, what may prove to be mankind's final war. Endtown is the continuing story of one of those communities.

Well, it looks like Marx has some idea on how the ship works, and how to handle dittos. Makes me think that he might have been collecting/training dittos since before he got the ship (either that or he’s darn quick at picking up ditto training).

I love the look on Petey’s face in panel 4.
“Excuse me, sir, may I help you?”
“Yes, I’d like a yard of ditto please.”
What’s the AI gonna think of being snipped off like that?

“the house system”…ok he knows that, which could mean that he didn’t have them before winning the ship. Or, boy o boy Aaron, you have me at a standstill. Brain wise, I mean.
He does like his little dittos doesn’t he.

Not a very good pair of scissors. Look at the ragged edges in panel 3.
Whoa, AM knows the AI had the ditto, so he obviously understands what’s going on. I want one of those “pockets of many things.”
AaronN: Nice roller-coaster ride with AM. We like him, we distrust him, we like him, we distrust him, now we like him again.

Anybody watching Pibgorn, It is getting really bloody.

If he knows, perhaps he’s dealt with the AI already and maybe Flask doesn’t have the control she thinks she does. AM has said all along there’s no problem and he’s not much concerned now, from the look on his face. Could this have been the trickster’s plan all along.

I follow the Pib! Regarding all the blood, it might be more accurate to say “Messed Be” [Ouch!]

Special ditto-cutters. Can’t find them in 7-11; strictly Home Depot, aisle 51.
Please note that the reason Marx doesn’t panic like everyone else does is that he’d gotten that out of his system a LONG time ago. Everyone else panics just because they’re still addicted to the adrenaline rush.

“ok he knows that, which could mean that he didn’t have them before winning the ship.”
As per Wally’s timeline a few strips ago, Marx had the ship for one hour before rescuing the party from the Topsiders. Marx himself said that all he did was “provide cover” during the salvage operation, which translates to sending the dittos down to do the “eyes and teeth thing”. Just now, Marx stated that it does take time to housebreak dittos, which we can guess to be more than 1 hour. Conclusion – Marx has been collecting dittos for some significant period prior to getting the ship. Additionally, he’s been reading Lucranian economic texts to the point where he at least knows something about them, and he can communicate with Lucranians enough to gamble with them at cards and win the ship. Conclusion 2 – Marx did his research before approaching the Lucranians for their card game, and may have known about their use of the dittos for ship control. He may even have been stealing dittos from other ships prior to this. Finally, the ship couldn’t tell if Little Ditto had come from its own system, or from outside the ship. Conclusion 3 – Mister Talky Face can’t feel the dittos being cut from it. He may not even realize that the attempt to capture Little Ditto failed.

Okay, folks.. At the suggestion of a number of readers, I’m making a variety of shirt designs available in the Endtown Cafe Press store. More designs to come, and be sure to let me know if you have any specific requests.

Remember to Vote at topwebcomics.com/ for Endtown 2.0 and Doc Rat each have slipped a place to #33 and #38 today, which is still highly respectable, but we can do better. TWC changes days in 10 minutes so if you haven’t voted by 12 AM PDT, you can still vote for May 30, then for May 31.
Namaste Ya’ll.

Ditto Taffy?
Nice to see Manx actually seeming to care about something else.

I think Marx’s string theory involves strings of dittos.

Yes, Just Sayin’, if I haven’t said this before, I feel really honoured that my Doc Rat strip is being promoted on the Endtown chat site.

I think Doc Rat and Endtown feel a lot like spiritual siblings, in terms of their emotion, drive and cheekiness.
I am looking forward to meeting Aaron for the very first time, at Anthrocon in Pittsburgh, in less than 2 weeks. I have the feeling great things are going to happen.
Hi, Aaron!
