I read that Clinton was going to show the debt clock and say “They built that,” but he didn’t do it.

Are you kidding. I guess the incompreshensible prospect of playing a literate president like Clinton against the iliterate buffoon of Bush who bought his college degree like his daddy bought him the presidency was just too frightening. Better for them to make up absurd lies playing to the bigotries and fears of the ignorant.

Clinton had a Republican Senate during the surplus era. Today’s Democratic Senate will never allow the budget deficit to be reduced; either thru higher taxes or reduced spending.

Norquist and the American Taliban have one goal in mind and it isn’t jobs or creating a stronger USA or empowering women, but getting Obama out of office.

Howie, there were plenty of facts in Clinton’s speech, and I’m waiting eagerly to hear from you which were incorrect. Unlike Ryan, Clinton doesn’t have to worry about telling the truth, because facts are definitely on his side. Ryan can’t tell the truth because facts do not support any good outcome from the Republican approach to governing.

What do you think Hillary Clinton would have done differently than Barack Obama? Their campaign platforms were pretty much identical. And, it’s silly to think that Clinton would have had any more help from the GOP than Obama got.

I think Hillary would’ve gotten at least a LITTLE more cooperation from the GOP than Obama has. I’ve never had any doubt that at least some of the opposition to Obama has been because of racism. Notice I did not say “all”, or “most”, but “SOME.” I think even Bob Dole might agree with that.

Clinton was excellent, as expected, and yes, as usual, went long on his time, but it was all facts, and “arithmetic”, indeed.

Which, I’ve watched the efforts of President Clinton, and President GHW Bush to work together for betterment of people’s lives, and the world. That IS VERY admirable, like Jimmie Carter’s long-standing efforts.

But, when it comes to that “arithmetic”, “W” still comes off as what he is, a total ZERO!

Forgive me for bringing this up, and I’m sure people will disagree with me. The year Bush/ Gore election was very close, and I think that Gore might have won if Clinton had been more decent in his personal life. Or at least not lied about it repeatedly. Slick Willie seems to have gotten off scot-free by now, become a multi-millionaire. .And while I admire many aspects of his politics, I despise him in most other ways. People seem to love a reformed sinner. The key is never to act guilty or ashamed, I guess. Every time I see him in sanctimonious speechifying, I shake my head in disbelief. I imagine him in that little room off the oval office….And so, let me ask how things might have been different in alternative history under President Gore. Bin Laden might not have gotten the stupendous Return on Investment (box cutters and flight lessons) through wild over-reaction to 9/11 (my opinion) as he did under Bush/ Cheney. We might not have burst into Afghanistan in such an unplanned way. We might not have invaded Iraq without figuring what to do next to rebuild it. Shock and awe, indeed..How many people, I speculate, might be alive if Clinton had not had his pleasurable spasm? Does that ever keep him awake at night? .We might even be slighter closer to energy independence through green means as an accepted philosophy, with the help of funds not spent on two misguided wars..The extra funds available might also have cushioned the financial crisis, although that was probably bound to happen sooner or later. Greed is eternal..Bush and bin Laden, linked in history, courtesy of Bill Clinton. In my fantasy opinion..To re-phrase Flannery O’Connor, “He’d of been a good man if he had been about to be impeached every day of his life.”

I’ve always wondered if 9/11 could’ve been prevented in the first place if Gore (or even McCain) were president. Probably not but we’ll never know. We do know that W’s handlers tended to be un-reconstructed Cold Warriors with major hang-ups about Russia and major ignorance of the Middle East. And Clinton can’t really be blamed for the lackluster campaign that Gore ran, nor the debacle in Florida.

Bush was never “into” politics. He just wanted to prove to his dad that he could play “War President” . Of course we would never have gotten into a war if he had been awake on 9/10 instead of clearing brush in Texas. If he ever runs again buy stocks in shoes because it will be raining all kinds of foot ware on his ignorant chimpanzee head.

Another small thing — A couple months ago Donald Trump trumpeted that he had been asked to the Republican convention where he was going to have a role and it was going to be huge. HUGE!-I didn’t watch much of the convention. Did he play a role at all?

Heck, why would anyone vote for someone who was responsible for everything bad that happened during the Bush administration? Even seven years into it.

It was terribly refreshing to see the DNC getting drunk on 180 proof Irony… the Teddy video and having Bubba talk… serial philanderers and rapists… and then talk about conservatives ‘war on women’…
