Thirdguy, would you believe Meg Ryan? In “When Harry Met Sally”? When after her Oscar performance at Katz Deli, the inspired lady at the next table deadpanned, “I’ll have what she’s having"? I mean, Billy Crystal obviously became a believer! One fine piece of acting, that Meg. Ya gotta believe! All the Fundy preachers say so!

From yesterday, someone posted that you could not tell if you had any type of clearance. I ASA Russian language. If you know who we were you probably know if we needed a clearance. All I can say is any one I knew with a top secret or secret clearance could not say because just that knowlege was classified confidential, need to know.

At least in this case, it was a matter of Alex not hearing her grandma, not someone messing up on the part of the politician or politican’s rep. Yesterday, here in the Missouri and Kansas area, we have been dealing with lots of embarrassing politicians and political speak and actions. First, we had Todd Akin saying that the female body could avoid getting pregnant after being raped as the female body would reject the pregnancy ?! Then, Rep. Yoder of Kansas decided to go skinny dipping while on a Congressional fact finding tour in Israel. Not so smart either. Go Claire McCaskill! Good luck Elizabeth Warren!

Those of you lucky enough Not to be living in the Tampa Bay area of Florida please pray for those of us who do. The next two weeks are literally going to be hell-on-wheels because of the Republican Convention. If I wasn’t so poor, I’d get out of the area for the next couple of weeks, but no such luck. It’s not the politics I mind. That I can turn off or mute. No, its the street closures and the traffic congestion. The only highways that will be open, are going to be clogged beyond belief – especially at rush hours. The civil planning defies description. And if the weather is as rainy as it has been lately, the roads are going to be murder.Unfortunately, for me, I have several unbreakable, non-postponable appointments scheduled in Tampa for these times. AAARGH !

You would think the right wingers would have their own cartoon strip out there. If not, they should probably work on it. None of the nasty right wing comments is going to change GT’s mind. I used to think that nothing could offend me anymore. But, that was before yesterday and the comments offered by Akin. I could kind of care less about someone skinny dipping (Yoder) but you would think he would have more class than to do it during a Congressional fact finding trip in the Holy Land. Morning Joe tried to suggest that Yoder do this at a Holiday Inn pool in Topeka. I don’t think that would go over very well either. Oh well. Guess Claire McCaskill just got reelected, thanks to the “legitimate rape” talk by Akin.

“… guardsarge ….”πI wouldn’t know, since I didn’t read him today, or the other two either. I’ve learned to totally so not feed the trolls. Do trolls share sociopathic DNA?πHere’s a definition from Dictionary.com. You decide.πSociopath: Someone whose social behavior is extremely abnormal. Sociopaths are interested only in their personal needs and desires, without concern for the effects of their behavior on others.

Here’s an example of a sociopath:πA sociopath is driving on the highway. A one-year-old toddles out into the road. The sociopath goes out of his way and even speeds up in order to run over the baby. When he is pulled over and arrested, he tells police: “Well, it’s the baby’s fault — for being on the road.”

Here’s another example of a sociopath. Only this one really happened. I read it in the news about ten years ago.πA man cut off his young son’s head, put on the passenger seat beside him, and drove from the west coast to the east coast with it sitting there. When he was finally caught, the police detectives who had been tracking him, said, Don’t you care how your wife feels about losing her son?πHe replied, “But what about ME? Nobody ever considers MY feelings? I lost a son too!”πPsychologists (PhDs) and psychiatrists (MDs) who deal with the mentally ill say that the normal controls for feeling empathy with others are simply missing in the brains of psychopaths.

Elizabeth Warren is a cartoonists delight…unfortunately, Trudeau is such a committed ideologue that he’ll never mine that rich vein. You loyal, puddinghead Trudeau fans don’t dare acknowledge the truth regarding what a gaffe-prone, poltical lightweight Warren is lest your entire philosophical house-of-cards falls from it’s own weight. For a party that professes to embrace The Theory of Evolution, your worst example is Trudeau, who’s political evolution got short-circuited his freshman year at Yale.

It should be interesting to see what Elizabeth Warren has to say in a few weeks. I wish GT would do a storyline about the mess with Claire McCaskill’s opponent. It makes it all the more powerful to me that I had a roommate in college who was raped at gunpoint and the prosecutor was Claire. She didn’t get pregnant but she did get syphilis. That is the ugliness of rape. And many have gotten pregnant through rape. It isn’t that rare. I know many think they can’t be affected by rape, but they are wrong. It is life changing and it is no joke. GT has taken on serious topics before. Maybe this should come up soon.

The people of Massachusetts have every reason to be proud of the eloquent Elizabeth Warren and I am sure that they are. Brown tried to say that it was a negative thing that she was a professor at Harvard. This kind of backfired I have heard. People in Massachusetts are fairly proud of Harvard University. You know this if you have ever visited the place.

“… 5 of the same old, same old ….”πWell, Sharuniboy, you call him a “3 Striper”, but I doubt that he ever rose higher than Private in any of the U.S. military services. For one thing, he claimed to have been “vetted” for Top Secret (TS) clearance. But after that a number of vets posted that those who actually do attain TS clearance, are under law not to reveal it. And even of someone has really been so “vetted”, he is under the same silence gag order.πConsequently he is either breaking the law or boast-lying. Lying latter is more likely, of course, since he wouldn’t want to risk arrest and prosecution.πFurthermore, friend Sharuniboy, if he is lying about the TS thing, then he’s probably lying about the “sergeant” thing. πFinally, if he’s lying about the “sergeant” thing, then likely he’s lying about the “service” thing. IOW, he likely NEVER EVEN SERVED in any of the U.S. armed forces at all.πAs they used to say, sad sack.

What’s really sad about our nation today is the fact that Akin can prove he is a complete moron, and folks will jump to his defense by attacking Warren, who’s articulate, educated, and has an I.Q. that’s probably equivalent to the total for the right-wing dingbats in Congress drinking their evangelical-laced TEA.

Needless to say, the right-wingers commenting here today have the cumulative intellect and education of a sand flea.

I was trying to find a silver lining in the saga of Congressman Caveman Akin. Claire was behind in the Senate race before the controversy. Maybe Akin can hang on and that will give her an easier time in Missouri. The sad thing is that there isn’t much difference between Ryan and Akin. They cosponsored a bizarre bill concerning abortion in redefining rape, saying that it isn’t rape unless it is “legitimate” meaning forcible rape. So, unless you punch the guy who is trying to rape you it is not rape in their book. Of course, there is such a thing as date rape, in which women have been given a drug before the rape and presumably that is ok with these warped people.
