    1-800-DROWNED would have the proper number of digits. :) Be sure to have the 17-digit serial number of the lifeguard’s chair handy when you call; they’ll need it to determine which beach you’re at.

    And if it’s a Legitimate drowning, your body has it’s ways to not drown. After all, we know that Legitimate drowning almost never happens.

    won’t matter if it is a legitimate drowning or not, there will be a tv commercial for dewey, cheatham and howe looking for “clients” for the class action lawsuit that were “harmed”… fortunately though the beach looks empty, dem’s and the moochers afraid real ‘labor’ may be involved on ‘labor day’

    Funny how the Libs think they get a vacation day on Labor Day, but they expect somebody to work and save their stupid ass ‘cause they can’t swim. Remember, socialism works great for the ones in charge.

    Funny how Conservatives love to blame Liberals for ideas that were theirs in the first place. It was the Republican party in my area that pushed for businesses and stores to be open on holidays, not Democrats.But that’s the way both parties work – blame each other while walking all over working men and women.

    Actually what caused companies to go overseas was due to high government taxes …..our current combined tax rat is the highest in the world since Japan lowered theirs. Our tax rate is 39.2 percent because the government is greedy.

    So, you see, liberals (progressives) will always blame the free market concept (capitalism) which has historically made America the greatest (and richest) nation on earth rather than opening their eyes to see that big government ..a government that has to tax in order to support the world (i.e.. the leading contributor to the IMF who is busy bailing out European nations). Where did your stimulus tax dollars go? To bail out foreign banks and big money banks mostly. the government has interfered in the free market system……a monkey wrench thrown in the machinery.

    Are you worse off or better off with a socialistic government? We will all soon see.

    Wiley, even for you this comic is stupid. Free market implies that all transactions are voluntary (non-coerced). This would never happen at a private beach since the private entity would lose customers for not supplying lifeguards. The vast majority of beaches are government owned and operated; thus we have the problems of beach erosion, trash, and inadequate safety. Most citizens have no choice regarding government operated entities (such as beaches, schools, police departments, etc.) and are forced to put up with high expense and poor quality. Your blaming the free market (and libertarians in general) for the problems of the world serves only to support the sociopaths running the world’s governments.

    @slug_queenWhat Akin was trying to say, and would have said if he were not a moron, is that rape induced pregnancy is relatively uncommon. And, that while that unwanted pregnancy is certainly a tragedy, the best solution to that tragedy is not to murder the innocent baby.

    @Night-Gaunt49

    You said, “Socialism isn’t economics, it is morality …” You are correct that Socialism is not true economics; almost 100 years ago Ludwig von Mises proved that socialist economies cannot exist. All attempts at socialism (Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, Communist China, Post WWII USA) have resulted in war, poverty, and loss of basic freedoms.

    That is because socialism depends upon government using force to steal from one group and give to some other favored group. This is immorality. Free markets depend upon voluntary transactions. Stealing is not allowed, When two individuals agree to a mutually satisfactory voluntary transaction both benefit. When government steals money for its own ends honest citizens suffer, the economy is damaged, and useful idiot apologists like you write propaganda to hide the truth.

    Labor Day is very similar to Memorial Day. It commemorates people who have fought and died for our way of life. I guess some people get nostalgic for the sight of 10 year old kids working 12 hours a day… It might sound crazy now, but people died so you could have Sunday off. Stand together or die alone, I say…. Stop. Think. Vote.

    It is unfortunate that people living in some countries are so poor they have to send their 10 year old children out to work in order to survive. No parent does that voluntarily. The alternative offered by do-gooders like you is to forcibly prevent companies from hiring children. That offers them the choice of starving or prostitution. Good job Varnes.

    Memorial Day commemorates all the young Americans who have died in vain for a lie to protect the power and wealth of an elite class. What other lies have you learned in your government school?

    Wiley has it exactly backwards. Only a central planner would decree that the lifeguard be outsourced. The free market would not because outsourcing a lifeguard simply doesn’t work.
