15 is the minimum,, and you cannot discourage employees from leaving the building. They are allowed to do anything they want (within reason) on their own lunch breaks.

Ten minutes? Every place I have ever worked has fifteen minute breaks. And telling employees they cannot leave the building during their thirty minute breaks is downright stupid.

Fortunately, I never worked anywhere that limited breaks in my field. You took them when you needed for as long as you needed. As long as the work got done on time, nobody cared.

One company decided that the research staff need to use the time clock like the line workers, and punch out if we left for lunch.Lasted about a month. Using the time clock proved how much unpaid overtime the research staff normally worked.

The Ritz Carlton gave us 20 minutes. I was always very grateful for that!
