back when i was a kid (early ’60’s) we had a tablecloth that had a blue gingham pattern. it looked like the kilpatrick’s bread wrapper.

I’m pretty sure Gingham’s coming was predicted by the Mayans.

Good! gingham is THE binary graphic that tricks the eye into seeing a mid range color that isn’t there. If you want the snob factor, call it Balmoral Plaid. Food also looks better with a blue or red ging tablecloth.

p.s. SupFr: Mayan used it on their armor and shields for the same reason Scots, Japanese, Euros, African etc. did – Its much harder for your enemy to focus on a check or a stripe. Romans wore houndstooth check for same.

Everyone knows that fashion goes in cycles, we’ve been going through the 80s in the last few years and next up is the 90s (which was also partly a re-run of the 60s but hey). .So really, what’s coming next is black jeans and…. FLANNEL..(p.s. I said this last Christmas, and there’s already some black denium on the back to school JCP ad…)

I’ve had boats named “Drifter” (literally found semi-submerged and refloated for a very short time by my older cousins and I; there are pictures – I was around 8); Apache; Apache II and III and Papoose (Dad was into westerns, and Papoose was a dinghy hand-built in Drexel Hill, transported to North Wildwood on the roof of a 1969 Cutlass convertible, whose maiden voyage was North Wildwood to Cape May Harbor via a hand-me-down Sears 5 hp outboard and the ICW. We had a ton of fun with it until the Marina overlords said “rent another slip or get it gone”.

Some of the “clever” names I’ve seen are “Catchalot”. which rarely happened, and “P.I.T.A.”, which the owner claimed he named after his wife,
