Yet I notice that of the five comics so honored, three are long defunct and the other two have been around for several decades.
Maybe another Sunday Greg can do the same honors for some more current comic strips. After all, you still-cartooning cartoonists have to stick together.
Man this was awesome! An instant favorite! Constructive criticism: The only thing I would have liked Greg to change would be to vary Eddie-as-Calvin’s hair a little (like he did for most of the others) to nudge him a little more into Calvin-ness. The face is fantastic, but if it wasn’t for Toby the Tiger (sorry, had to say it) I would have a little bit of trouble identifying Calvin.
This one went over pretty well, today, huh? I’m working on a Sunday cartoon now. Maybe I should tip my hat to Prince Valiant and Alley Oop? You guys read those, right?
Your probably done by now. I also like the artwork but at the same time it is funny. :SMILE:I read Alley Oop and I think I used to read Prince Valiant but can’t find it. It’s not on go-comics.
Careful what you wish for… it’s so typical to believe that if only things were different from what they were — or if we were different — life would be so much better. But if you were to give that careful consideration, maybe you would think twice about it. Seems that Toby and Eddie have gotten glimpses of ‘different’ (rather, several ‘differents’), and decided that they like their lives just as they are, for better or worse.

Bloody brilliant! What a great tribute to four of the best cartoons ever, oh, and Garfield too.

Panel three looks like Walt Kelly’s “Pogo”. Panel five looks like Garry Trudeau’s “Doonebury”.
Really excellent work!
