What do you wanna bet the load of laundry Brad put in the dryer included a sneaker or two? If Shannon’s in the laundry room, no way would she hear anything over that racket.

OK she better not be in the dryer if it was running! Not good!.And does Toni really not know what a dryer buzzer sounds like?? I mean I know every dryer is probably different, but still. Kind of like hearing a phone ring and being confused what the noise is.

I think this arc is starting to come to an end. I have a feeling that TJ will remember a place he used to hide during his childhood in order to find Shannon. It doesn’t have to be in the dryer. It could be somewhere in the laundry room, but she wouldn’t be able to hear over the noise the dryer was making.

Obviously, a light bulb went off in TJ’s brain that I fail to see. Maybe Shannon is wearing earphones, but why would she be in the laundry room? I think Greg just threw out a clue, daring us to make the connection.

Nobody can survive a spin in the dryer. Oxygen depletion and suffocation as well as burns to the skin and possibly internal organs if the dryer heat is on high. Ever read about children and pets who died in dryers? I hope Greg read those. If Greg wants Shannon to live, Shannon cannot be in the dryer. Maybe they merely realized they hadn’t checked the laundry room and the ding only reminded them of that fact? Shannon might be hiding inside a basket or a hamper and the clothes diffused the noises. They might find her sound asleep.

Shannon might be the laundry room and unable to hear anything except the dryer and/or her mp3 device. If finding her turns out to be that simple, then the destruction of floors and walls will truly have been a waste!

For those who don’t like this storyline, come back in a few days.Although I will admit, calling out to a child isn’t the same a going into every room and checking every stop..Sometimes they are playing hide and seek, you’re it and haven’t been told yet..I’m betting this will either push Toni closer or farther away from thoughts of marriage.

I still say the sawing of the floor to reveal a hatch (by Brad) and the sledgehammering of the walls (by TJ) is a true “Jump the Shark” moment for this story arc. I greatly appreciate Greg Evans work and efforts in his comic…. but the idea to cut a hole in a floor or to bash out a wall TO SEARCH FOR A MISSING KID is preposterous AND the opposite of funny. I will be very glad when this arc reverts to something else…. this current arc is spoiled for me much like curdled and soured milk left out in the sun.

ARg. I don’t have time to go through 60 comments so sorry if this was mentioned. To address the comment about Toni not knowing the dryer sound… depending on where you are in the house the sound could very well be a very very faint ding You may not realize what it is if your only barely hearing it. (my dryer is in the basement and I didn’t realize what the sound was the first time I heard it ether. )

I have tried and tried, but I just can’t get into this strip. I’ve read it for about two years now, and the storylines are silly. Once in awhile he pulls off a good Sunday strip, but that’s about it. I wash my hands of Luann for once and for all and this story line did it.

AND to run the dryer, a child would have to be able to close the door SECURELY for the dryer to be able to be TURNED on (by whom?) and spin. There is no handle inside the dryer for Shannon to secure the door closed, anyway. So she is NOT in the dryer. Dryer doors don’t latch on securely by themselves the way a refrigerators do – for safety reason of children.

Maybe they should try more practical means of trying to locate her. They seem to have pretty much established she is not in the house, so why don’t they just pick up the phone and start making a few calls – like to the DeGroots or Mrs. Lewis or … Wait a minute I forgot this was just a comic strip.

For those of you who may not be familiar with the “Butterfly Effect”it goes something like this: A seemingly insignificant event such as a butterfly distracting a cat causes the cat to run between the legs of young Greg Evans causing him to fall and hit his head on the concrete walk which in turn causes him to become an instant genius which in turn causes him to go into the lucrative field of telemarketing rather than that of a lowly comic strip artist which means we would not all be here today trying to figure out where that non-existent brat is.Thank you for your patience.

Dave, I don’t know if the following would affect Toni’s or Brad’s outlook on possible marriage, but they provide some pertinent education.1) Don’t agree to take care of your sibling’s undisciplined child – especially if you want to have a life – especially a romantic relationship.2) Learn from 1) and decide to put limits on a your own child’s free expression from the get go.3) Look for teachable moments – don’t approve actions that go against common sense.4) Discuss with your prospective partner, and especially with your committed partner, that you will provide a unified front when approving/disapproving child and teen requests.5) Don’t expect to have uninterrupted intimacy when children are present – and certainly not if you are responsible for their care.

I agree, Greg has a means to an end. Toni clearly looks irritated at the 2 lunk heands in couple panels. On the other hand she seems to not be thinking clearly either so she can’t be too hard on Bwad. What direction it goes in is a toss up. He wants it more than her so far and that may drive it.
