I always bring a book to read, so that wouldn’t work for me.

Go sit with all the screaming brats for a few minutes. That will bring your blood pressure up to stroke level.

Eat some big salty pretzels later on too. That should do it!

While I was going through my pre-induction physical, they couldn’t get a good reading on my BP with a standard sphygmomanometer , as the diastolic (lower number) was below the calibration range of the instrument (IIRC, the at rest reading was 60/25).

I pointed out that my pulse was 25 bpm, and I only breathed 3 times a minute.

As they were preparing to get concerned, I explained that I was a long distance runner who ran over 100 miles a week in training, and would run 10 miles in less than 70 minutes 3 times week.

40 years later, as an overweight , out of shape, sedentary white male, I still have 115/72 and a 63 pulse.
