It is no longer is laughing matter. These people have theirs while some of us live in fear of becoming homeless any day. I am living like that. I recent the implication that is my fault I cannot find a job. At Least the democrats are not calling me lazy and worse. Unfortunately, the two party system has failed. Washington is nothing but a bunch of pigs gobbling down endless amounts of corporate money. Somebody pick up of fiddle and play as the world economy burns.
Previous post made sense. Also in Europe they have tried austerity and it isn’t working for them. As for the debts, Britain has more than Spin but is doing better. The Freidman economics is built for the rich. We need my Keynesian economists.THe tax breaks for the super wealthy should have gotten rid of 2 winters ago, but the conservatives took hostages like any 2 bit terrorist. I’m so tired of people saying “the poor should get off their lazy butts” Most of the people in the “safety nets” are children and the elderly. The ones who are disabled may have some moochers, but I’d rather the ones who really can’t work because of being born with disabilties, or from illness, accidents, major diseases like cancer and other debilitating illnesses were helped even if it meant supporting a few cheaters. There are fewer than you think.
1st; put a 50% tax rate on all PACs and SUPERPACs.2nd, end the farce that’s called “separation of church and state.” and add a 10% tax rate on ALL ‘nonprofit religious entities’. Why do I say this?In 2010; a church, with a yearly budget of over $1,000,000 got over $240,000 of TARP funds to fix their heat/AC. In 2011; the ‘oldest church’ in America got over $1,000,000 for repairs. The ‘separation of church and state’ needs to go BOTH WAYS or neither!
I have no problems with cuts to the military, or ending all subsidies across the board. No one, in my opinion should be getting money from the government for doing business or not doing business. However, those aren’t our largest debt areas. Rather, entitlement programs are also a very large part of the budget, and shouldn’t be off the table. As for taxing the taxing the rich, blame the poor argument. I find it factually distorted in these threads. The problem with taxing the rich is that even if you took all of the money the top 1% have, it wouldn’t cover one year of deficit in the current budget. Clearly then, this argument by those that proffer it is more of a political ploy than a real solution.
Egypt, Syria, Libya, Iraq, countries where the top paid few taxes, huge spending on military and “defense”, and debt punished the poor and profited the rich. Hmmm, how did that work out for them?

(“And you Dems think taxing the rich, cutting the military is a cure-all!!!”)-No, it’s not a cure all, but it’s a good start.

Thanks, tcity. I was going to post, it’s not a cure-all, it’s a cure-some.

What troubles me is the number of people who seems to believe in magic! NOBODY can snap their fingers and reverse the economy overnight.
