Innocence is so under-rated!

A bad hair day will do that to people, Red!

ah yes, the TV shows that are on when the kids are supposed to be at school. just turn it to cartoon network red, they wont let you down.

Can’t, no such thing as cable or The Cartoon Network at that time. NBC, CBS, or ABC was all there was back then. You took what they served you.

Satellite and Cable-TV were just in their infancy, while a groupof geeks in white shirts, glasses and pocket protectors wereinventing a tool for the military…called “The Arpanet”.

Some kid in Red’s position probably dreamed up the cartoon network back then and eventually made it a reality. Funny. I don’t get sick nearly as often as I did back then. I can’t even remember my last sick day.

Best read while imaging that popular heavy organ music in the background accompanied with the appropriate male & female voices. “Oh George…” in high-pitched voice. “My love…” lower, deeper voice.

they have ben using a cheap perm/color and calling it top shelf?

I think Red may be learning things he isn’t ready for!

Here come the soaps!

For awhile I watched the five minute recap at the beginning of each “The Days of Our Lives” — that was enough to keep up with the plot “development”!

I didn’t like being sick at home. The soaps made me sicker. ewwww

Is this what it means to be home schooled?

There’s now only 4 soaps left on network daytime TV, but could be reduced to 3 if ABC cancels General Hospital this Fall to make room for Katie Couric’s new daytime talk show.

I’m of a “certain” age … I remember (long before TV) my mother listening to soap opera’s on the radio. “Ma Perkins” and “Helen Trent” are two names I remember, but there must have been more. “Helen Trent … The story that asks the question … is there life after forty?” .. lots of organ music, etc.

I also remember “Rinso-Blue” soap commercials.

I didn’t watch soaps when I was home sick from school. I think I watched classic shows like Leave It to Beaver and The Dick Van Dyke Show.

She’s been complaining about the service there for years? Why did she keep going then? lol

Boy, does this bring back memories of a few of MY sick days as a kid… With about as much comprehension.

Soaps are actually real life, only with prettier people and better-written dialog.

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!

I hope Red gets better soon, he is getting behind almost missed a whole week of school already. Not to mention, Rover would like to go for a walk with him outside or play astronauts.

That lady must have a hard time getting good service.

You don’t want to know Red! Childhood doesn’t last very long these days.

I don’t even suspect he suspects.

I did not know that this was supposed to be set in the 60’s. I thought he lived in present day. I guess that would explain some things in the strip.

Oh, Rover knows what she suspects, but he’s keeping quiet. Good dog.

Red must really be sick if he’s watching soaps and doesn’t know what to suspect.

It looks as if Rover is waiting for an answer.

If this were truly the 60s Red would be watching “Dark Shadows” this time of day. Not anything else. (But then, “DS” was reportedly the last soap of the day late in the afternoon right before the news. So maybe it will come on later.)

My dog watches tv with me, but falls asleep on the soaps

Red wouldn’t have to watch a soap today.

There is only garbage on during the day

Next time you’re sick (in 3 or 4 years) you can pick up the story right where you left off today.

The innocence of youth…….

Back then, weekday afternoon tv was very boring if you weren’t a fan of soap operas. I think Red needs a stack of comic books, or a Tarzan novel.

I’ve tuned into “The Young and the Restless” over the years since I was a teen (we are talking decades). I can’t still follow much of the plot. Of course, not now that I have no T.V….

It is nice to see Red so innocent. Those were the days. Sigh.
