that picture is full of analogies if you are familiar with post Renascence art. the skull symbolizes the mortality of man, which she embraces, the candle is the light of god which she gazes on, the books and cross are obvious, her bare feet indicate innocence, and i’m pretty sure she is pregnant indicating new life and rebirth

i like the modern view of it too

@Number Six (from yesterday): I linked the painting because the shoes made me wonder if it had somehow been altered.I don’t plan on doing this every day, but, if you’re interested, to find it, I entered the artist name in the Enter keyword to search box, clicked the 4×4 icon under the Artworks tab to get more images per page, and went through them clicking the Next button (Manet had several with guitars, some of just a guitar).This (no, there isn’t dust on your screen) says today’s painting was done 1635-1637. This (sans dust, click the image to enlarge it) says 1640. Mr. Melcher says 1626 (but who really knows). As Baslim the begger mentioned above, this is a similar painting by the same artist, with a bit more history (if you’re interested).

HTMLI know it isn’t English, but if I try to present examples here, whatever parses the Comment just interprets the syntax rather than displaying it.

Tried to access your links. It presented me with some garbage about opening a Gmail account. I already have as many e-mail addresses as I need (one).If all you’re showing is images, Google has a Picasa service. If put your images there and make them public (or maybe these can be viewed without a Gmail account if you make them public, that I don’t know), others can view them without logging into Picasa.

As an art history buff I have to love this strip even though I really only liked impressionists and surrealists in their styles. Now that I do Medieval scrolls I often imitate the older artists. I can also relate to the rengence theme with a former supervisor who said that women don’t belong in engineering and he’d get rid of me – got many congrats from others (men) when he left, because he was unpopular.
