It was certainly queer when cartoonists could print words in the strips that we readers couldn’t include in our comments, regardless of context. Whoever came up with THAT policy was a real ass.

But I’ll throw my lot in with Mark Twain, who thought that casual use of “coarse words” is to be discouraged; they should be saved for when you really need ’em.
