I’ve spent a few minutes trying to figure out what the amorphous blob on the “JUMBO sweet drink” is meant to be, but I’m coming up blank.

Is it a plum? A date? An owl pellet? I do not know.

Well I believe it might be the kola nut, but I dont think that this is the most important aspect of the cartoon. I was first thinking about the fact that Americans eat an enormous amount of food but are incredibly unhealthy because of the lack of nutrients that they take in (the 1500lbs man they had to pull out of him home was actually dying of mal nutrition).

But then i saw the health care bit, and I dont think this is discussing any current changes such as Obama care or anything. What this is showing is that the US spends the MOST in health care expenditures but has one of the worst health care records in the western world. Which is why the reform is so necessary. So much money and technology and yet one of the worst health records, same as all this food everywhere and still people are dying of starvation (malnutrition).

it’s really sad. twice a year we take our fitness test. half the unit fails. those who fail typically range between the ages of 18 and 25.

a silver lining around this sour economy is that many people are rushing to join the military. our recruiters can now pick and choose the best of the crop, and those who are in won’t stay in if they can’t cut the mustard. yes!

I just wonder what kind of history scott has been reading.

Anyway, I think the small comment in the lower right corner is the real issue here. I think very few Americans are starving for foodstuffs. Now, healthcare…

I’m reminded of that Pullitzer winning photograph by Kevin Carter in the Sudan.

Matthew 7:4 “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye?

Christianity asks us to look within and know ourselves and work to become more loving of our neighbors. Neighbors include Democrats and Republicans.

Don’t pretend you understand Christ’s message and spew vitriolic, name-calling, hate language against an entire generalized population.

I sometimes think the anti-Christ has already come and taken over the hearts and minds of all too many, who instead of considering with Christian humility, their own lives and the role they play in perpetuating problems, claim they and theirs are full of virtue and the problems were all created by someone else.

Sounds like a Win-Win situation: the overweight kids starve to death, then there are no more fat kids and no more starving kids. End of health crisis, everyone else is healthy and no need for overcrowded weight control centers.

«We allowed the Left to convince us Christianity was worthless garbage, so now we fill up our empty spirits with worthless garbage.» So presumably those who believe in Christianity (in any event, what «scottfreitas» chooses to call «Christianity») eat less junk food then atheists and that motley crew ? Wow, that «scottfreitas» gets better with every passing day !…

Try getting through the end of the month when you’re out of food stamps…healthy food is expensive and junk food is cheaper…you end up eating a lot of white bread and ramen, and you feel bloated but not satiated…this is why poor people can often end up fat.
