True happiness has got to include women. Money is nice. Cars…I don’t think so. True happiness is having a partner to share each day with who you look forward to waking up to each morning…in the absolute splendor of wealth. if not monetarily than in happiness.

It depends on no material things it’s peace in your heart and with god, a good get along with people, to love someone truely, feel to be loved, a wonderful sunset, to enjoy nature, to walk in the sand along the shore in the evening, or to sit in the gras under a tree in summer, what wonderful happiness!

TC: The reason you are flagged today is that while Luke 6: 27-28 is a nice passage, it has nothing to do with today’s comic or the way you have been treated on this forum. Born-again Christians like me don’t like being misrepresented and non-christians don’t like having hate spewed at them. Your posts of the past few days have been inappropriate at best and just plain mean, not to mention completely off-topic. While I did not flag today’s posting because all you did was quote Luke, I have done so in the past and will continue to do so when you rant and rave at us for no discernible reason.

Looking at this from Calvin’s point of view, he has approximately 3 women in is life: one is a monster, one is a pest, and the other he unconditionally loves she however, makes him go to school, eat his greens and have BATHS (this state of affairs maybe true for all little boys)

As for Hobbes/tigers not being in the equation… tigers are like the ‘=’ sign, there’s no meaning to an equation with out a tiger in it.

As for the ‘money can’t buy you happiness argument’; Most people who have no money, are usually quite miserable (not the people who choose to have no money here. This maybe a very important disticntion tho’) Living in the world community that we do with the social expectations that we have and having a desire to fit in, then money sure adds significantly to the state of happiness with in that system. Vive La Anarchy LOL

@ Stuart Gathman – TC edited his comment. The original was, well, a little different than the passage quoted.

To flag or not to flag? I am distinctly in the “no flag” camp for a variety of reasons. I think the person behind TrueCristian, regardless of motivation, is gutless and is using the anonymity of the Internet to be a keyboard bully. And I don’t mind telling that person to stick his or her comments where they ought to go. But I think rather than flagging, we should all agree to ignore this stupidity. There are some 58 comments in this forum as I write, and at least half mention this particular commenter.

And, so, I issue the following thought to everyone else here: don’t flag, just ignore. Don’t give credence to this fool and we’ll see how long the foolishness lasts – sometimes you just need to ignore petulant children and they will stop their incessantly obnoxious behavior.

I don’t know what TC posted earlier that resulted in *it* being furiously flagged, but I have seen posts from other days, and I’m sure that what IS there now , was not earlier. I know Christians, some of my friends are Christians, and you, TC, ARE NO CHRISTIAN. Trolls can’t make anyone look bad if nobody responds, they only make a fool of themselves. . One thing my wife likes to tell me is “Never argue with a idiot, they pull you down to their level then beat you up with (trollish) experience; and others people watching can’t tell the difference.”

Money don’t grow from the tree. Cars…mmm I was not sure if cars are worth to drive for pleasure or not. Women, mmmm… Love will win your heart that is most important. Stay with your partner forever “till death us apart” (I try to figure out that one) If you are happy for what you have something that will be worth (or valued) in your life, you will have a lot of true happiness.

I already flagged on TC! I won’t accept no matter what the person tries to post negative comment on this posting comment or not. So be it!

As my avatar suggests I too am a big fan of Crumb and others printed in the underground newspapers. At the time in my life I was living in Vancouver, BC and the Georgia Straight newspaper had a strip that i just loved. It was called “Harold Head” and was about a longhaired lean hippie stoner. Most of you probably didn’t see it, as it might have been local. One day I was sitting in my favorite dive pub called The Anchor with my roommate buddy and there we saw a guy who looked just like Harold Head. My friend and I speculated that it was the cartoonist, but couldn’t summon up nerve to approach and ask. Anybody out there familiar with the strip.

TC apparently people dont really like you around here and earlier I could’nt find your comments. I do understand now why you are disliked. Firstly it is to my knowledge that anyone who searched this, and found it, and took the time to create an account and write a comment is here to enjoy the cartoons and, like me, share their love of Calvin and Hobbes with others. It is to my understanding that you do not wish to write about the comic that everyone else came here to enjoy, and would rather poison our chatter with reglious comments and debates. I can tell you that if I wanted to talk about religion I would watch the news, or talk to my parents. Now, Since I am unaware of your age or if you have a television I am going to reccomend this, you should go to a place where your comments are welcome, say a news website focusing on religious topics, or even just a quick google search of whatever it is your looking for to talk about. I do not want to shut you out or make you feel subordinate, I just wish to enjoy my favorite comic with others without the constant interuption of a person wanting to discuss and/or debate religion, thats not why I’m her sir/mam. I hope you understand what I have said and decide to go to a place more welcoming to your topic. I am also, for the record, a Christian, Catholic, so I have no desire to hurt you. Thank you.

Alright, about the comic, I cant recall the first time I read this but I remember it made me laugh. I have found all of the Calvin and Hobbes comics to be enjoyable and I think they all are great. I think this is more of Calvin just being himself, that is to say, the innocence of childhood, I cannot tell you true happiness, other than that it varies per person, each of us knows what makes us happy and that is what true happiness is to us. I think calvin asks this now with those three choices but when he’s grown will his possible children be his true happiness?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with comments about faith and religion on this forum. Calvin and Hobbes is, after all, so wonderfully brilliant because of its juxtaposition of wit and humor with incisive philosophical insights. We just need to remember to be respectful.

TC the bible says that all of creation is in bondage to sin, and that it too will be included in the redemption (Romans 8.20-25). The bible also says that we are to forgive others (Mathew 6.14), and even St. Paul recognized that he was a sinner (1 Timothy 1.15). Therefore, I am happy not to flag you again, but please do continue to post respectful comments. God bless :)
