    Today is the First of May. That was an important date in the Middle Ages. It was the beginning of summer and that is why we have Midsummer in June. Nowadays, here in the UK, we have a Bank Holiday Monday after the first weekend in May and a second Bank Holiday Monday after the last weekend in May.
