What just happened to B.C. also happened to Captain Picard in the TNG episode ‘Time Squared’. “They say if you travel far enough, you will eventually meet yourself”. Something that Picard said he himself would not want to repeat.

Check Mason Mastroianni’s Facebook post about AI, “I asked GPT to create a BC gag for me. Looks like I get to keep my job for a few more years,” especially the panel included. (I’d put the link to it here, but GoComics doesn’t allow URLs. You’ll have to find it on your own.)

It would be interesting to see AI generated ’toons. Will they “get” humour?

No matter how advanced AI becomes there are two realities it will never reach, sentience and having an imagination. Turing’s test remains unpassed.

Very timely, given yesterdays protest letter by 200+ musicians from Billie Eilish and Stevie Wonder to even the estate of Frank Sinatra.

Oh yeah, I’ve gotten some weird results like that with those AI image generators. And I have an image in mind (and that I drew) which I can’t get an AI to replicate properly at all.

It looks like it says “Nope BC!”AI is a tricky thing.

It’s the modern day Y2K.

Think of the programmers you know. . . These are the people who are creating AI. . . .

Drawings on the cave wall indicated they did not have AI….

I use AI as a research assistant. It is a good tool when used with adult supervision. With AI, one must “trust but verify.” AI has been known to make things up.

We oldsters get a big kick out of AI generated TV subtitles. Methinks those raking in the dough from their YouTube benefactor should edit their product before release to avoid my Thumbs-Down.

AI is giving us the finger(s).

You can’t stop progress. You can stand in front of it and get rolled over or get on top and go with the flow.

As with most things there are pros and cons.

They should remake “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” using AI generated people instead of pod generated. See if anyone can spot the difference

Some of the really good cautionary articles about AI were probably written by AI.

Yeah, I woke up today feeling just a bit pixelated, too, and I had to go thaw out the old meat-me to stand in while I re-rendered.
