Acorns are NOT trees you dam dishonest worthless imbeciles! (I doubt if the judges know how many embryos can fit into an acorn.)

Republicans are now talking about banning in vitro fertilization and even hormonal birth control (“the pill”).

For those in safe blue states that have enshrined women’s reproductive rights in their state statutes and constitutions, we are talking about nationwide bans that would supersede state level safeguards.

Abortion, IVF and birth control are on every ballot in every state in the 2024 elections.

So much for the “freedom” and “liberty” that conservatives always love to talk about.

When conservatives talk about “freedom” or “liberty,” what they mean is “freedom” for corporations to run roughshod over the rights of workers, consumers and our shared environment, but they want to micromanage and dictate control over every aspect of your personal lives.

Conservatives want to dictate private relationships (dictate who you can or can’t marry or even what behavior is allowed behind closed doors), private medical choices (reproductive choices such as abortion or contraception, medical or recreational marijuana, end of life choices, stem cell therapies, gender-identity care), tell us what books we or our children can have access to, or try to force PRIVATE religion into PUBLIC policy and religious rituals into public meetings or subsidize it with special tax advantages (socialized religion).

They’ve gone completely around the bend from my perspective. What’s next? Not allowing transfusions because it might kill a blood cell? Maybe they’ll lock up barbers, because you know, HAIR must be human, right?

Pfft.

Being human isn’t some abstract concept, it’s an actual factual BEING. 16 cells is NOT human, I don’t care WHAT you find in a religious tract.

Republicans would force a pregnant embryo to give birth.

Lock her up, lock her up, LOCK HER UP!

Anthropologists would have a better understanding of primitive tribal behaviour if the set up shop in the red states. No more having to rough it in jungles around the world.

If embryos are persons, the census will need to be done again. Amended tax returns will need to be filed, for the extra deductions that can be taken. Redistricting will need to be done, because of the population changes in the locations where the embryos are kept (which I suspect are urban areas which nearly always vote blue).

Remember, right wing religious fanatic republicons believe life begins when a man buys the woman a drink. At that point she becomes nothing more than a brood mare for his seed.

My memory is so good that I remember going to a party with my father and coming home with my mother. Was I really a live person at that time? WOW!!!! I like medicine and science practiced by lawyers better than practiced by physicians and scientists!

And notice how there’s never any blame or responsibility placed on the men.

Following this twisted logic.. every woman going through her normal monthly cycle.. has commited murder. Given.. that egg was viable until she aborted it.

We really don’t have to worry about this taking place. The Repubs and their stooges in their supreme courts are only interested in the unborn. Once out of the womb, all their responsibility ends.

If embryos are people how are they going handle an illegal immigrant who was impregnated by a local? Can’t deport her—she’s carrying an American! They’ll probably hold her in some facility until she gives birth, then throw her out.

I’m not terribly worried about this issue. A Christian Texas judge made a moronic ruling without considering the complex medico-legal Kraken he might release. I predict that he will be reversed by another court that is unwilling to upset the the uneasy balance we have post-Roe. You must spend a good bit of time riding short-busses to church to think that a fertilized embryo is any more deserving of legal protection than a metastatic mole. Then again, Texas… Christians… morons in legislatures…

Guessing all those clinics can take their trays of embryos to the voting booth and cast multiple votes & obviously pregnant women can vote twice.
