Well, it was certainly was one way of making sure he always had a hot lunch.

Some Thai and Vietnamese dishes combine peanuts with spice. You can make a great dip using peanut butter (real peanut butter, made with only peanuts and salt), lime juice, ginger, and chilies.

Actually, his assertion that he failed lunch is incongruent with the back story of this strip: supposedly He originally had the intelligence of an average person, but excessive memory wipes from alien abductions caused him to lose it. For that to work he had to have been smart-to-brilliant before..
