Morning Susan about an hour ago. LMB and I were cruising the countryside since about 7:00 with Dad. Mom gives me half a blueberry muffin (freshly made) when I come home in one piece. Talk about incentive. :-D

Deep breath, Cathy, deep breath. Take it easy… For me, the worst part of a new car is getting that first ding. That hurts more than the rest. Someone deliberately put a long scratch in the very first car that I bought with my own money. That one first made me furious and then so sad that people could be so mean. Good morning, Susan! Morning to all, I got my first ding on new car a month ago in Florida…someone let their door hit my door and never left a note or anything!!

Giving as good as you get, eh, Aaron? Never mind – just let lightenup have the other half of your muffin. That should do the trick.

Lovely sunny day here today – which is something of a rarity this “summer”!

I’m not a driver, but my OH has only ever had second-hand cars until the current one. The good bit about a pre-used vehicle – apart from the cost being about half, of course – is that it already has that lived-in look, courtesy of previous owners.

The current car was new and shiny – and I remember how crushed he was the first time he got back to the car park and discovered that some kind passer-by had given it a dunt, without leaving his details.

Meanwhile . . . Is anyone else just as underwhelmed (to say the very least!) at Cathy’s new car as much as I am?!? Maybe we’ll get to see more of it tomorrow when it’s actually out on the road being driven by our favorite little nut-job and we’ll all be “wowed” by it then? Nah!!! Probably not!!!!!

The really bad thing is that I can actually relate to this one. I had someone with no insurance run into me within a month of buying a new car a few years back. When I bought a new car recently, the first thing I thought was, “I wonder how long it will be before this one gets dinged!” Ack, I’m getting more like Cathy each day!!!

@BillyI don’t really recall feeling like a bulls-eye. I must be missing something obvious here. Whoops.

Hi Cathyites!! That’s about as anxious as I feel about my flight to Amsterdam tomorrow. Then cruising to Norway, back to Amsterdam and a train ride to Paris. Sorry, won’t be posting for 2 whole weeks!

That’s if I can get past the security at the airport — really hate that part. Also hate the new restrictions on liquids — last time I flew to England we could at least have 2 gallon size baggies to put stuff in. Now it’s 1 quart size baggie. Luckily my hubby doesn’t take much, so he is carrying on my hair products while I carry on the meds (liquid Advil & Aspercreme in particular).

I hope this car is worth all the anguish. Oh and my first ding in the Mini was a little toddler with a mom who obviously had a disability (MS or something related). The tyke was being very self-sufficient and helping Mom by getting into the car by herself and taking out my door in doing so. I watched the whole thing but I didn’t have the heart to say anything, so I just decided to fix it myself. That Mom has her hands full enough w/o my silly pride in a car door.

That’s good to hear! I like the crowd who comment on Cathy, though. They’re a much friendlier gang than you can find on some discussion boards. That’s why I signed on the dotted line and joined in.
