Cathy: Do I really need it? No. Do I have to have it? No. Is it critical? No. Essential? No. Irreplaceable? No. Did I just buy it? Yes. Another out-of-body experience at the cosmetics counter.
Jeez, what’s next? Referring to herself in the third person? “Now Cathy is going to go home and drown her purchasing regrets in a carton of ice cream”LOL, Susan! Good morning, legaleagle, Susan and gmforde! Hope you’re in sleepyland, Aaron, getting some much deserved rest! Li’l Lightenup asked me this morning if the Sandman was real. I hope your Sandman is working overtime. :-)CONGRATULATIONS on your good news, Aaron!!! That’s soo fantastic! It’s like you’re going through the evolution of TV: first it’s nothing, then fuzzy black & white, then fuzzy color. Next will be sharper and sharper until it’s HD and better than the rest of us without bionic eyes can see. So cool! Keep us updated because we’re so happy for you! :-)Hello to GsMom, Billy, KFG, rgcviper, lindz.coop, hendelca, Mona, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, soonergal, lippyfish and all the other Cathy nuts rolling around here today!
Whoops, I got so carried away with Aaron’s eye (that sounds gross), that I forgot what I wanted to say to lindz.coop…I so agree! Kohls is really guilty of that. I don’t like shopping as it is, so I’ll save it all up for one big trip to get it out of the way. So if I get some of their Kohls cash, I almost never come back to use them. But I was told recently that even if they have an expiration date on them, they’ll still accept them after they “expire”. Gymboree does the same annoying thing, and, like you said, Macy’s is particularly bad also. Their “sales” are ridiculous! On the other hand, JC Penney recently switched to no coupons, which I love. They have regular low prices that include all of the discounts that the coupons used to give. Granted they have monthly sales and a special value on Fridays, but I guess that appeals to those who like the fun of hunting a good deal. Plus I at least appreciate that their sales last all month and I don’t have to rush in there within a week. Yay for JCP!Okay, my rant is done…(p.s. I’ve seen people do the extra small font in their posts. Does anyone know how to do that?)
Actually, Cathy sounds like my husband in this strip, trying to talk me about of buying another outfit or more makeup he thinks I don’t need. But then, need has nothing to do with it when it comes to clothes and makeup!
I’m with legaleagle48 again. Seems harmless enough, but then again, we know Cathy better than she knows herself. Can’t say I’ve ever had an out-of-body experience while shopping. Not even in an Apple store. It usually takes an injury on the job to do that. (Oh man, those are soooo scary).
lightenup got carried away with my eye? Geez, I hope it’s back before I have to start my shift tonight. Or I could wear one of those black eye patches that would made me look like a mysterious international financier or even spy guy.
Is this what you mean lightenup? It uses HTML tags sub (subscript) or sup (superscript).
Hi all. Aaron if Lightenup gets back with your eye in time, I would just like to add my best wishes for your continued recovery of your sight. Keep it up. [Orders from the group, I’m sure]
This one hit really close to home today. Just came back from taking Dad to get a new piano (2hr drive) and while I was there stopped in to pick up a new hazer (which I need) but saw a neat new lighting effect – so bought two of them! Don’t need them, they are not critical, essential, or irreplaceable but they are going to add something to the dance recital in two weeks! Maybe I have been reading Cathy for too many decades – I am starting to shop like her – at least where lighting stuff is concerned.
Hi other Cathyites!! Just take it back Cathy — quick before you even leave the store!! Not only does it get rid of the unwanted stuff, it really annoys the sales person (which in this case is so deserved).

Cathy (the character), you’re just amazing at inspiring the eye-rolls. How do you do it?
Hello, everyone.
