    For those who don’t know, sambars are a type of deer that inhabit Southern Asia and are a common prey item for tigers.

    Kinda interesting that Watterson specifically chose to reference sambars in particular and not just write “deer” instead.

    Sambar appears to be one of two things (maybe more) 1. The sambar powder is used in cooking.

    2. The sambar (Rusa unicolor) is a large deer native to the Indian subcontinent, South China, and Southeast Asia that is listed as a vulnerable species on the IUCN Red List since 2008.
