Actually monetary inflation hasn’t been very bad in recent history. But the way that the federal government has been spending money lately, it may not last much longer.

I live in New Jersey, land of Wawa. At their locations with gas stations, they have free air pumps, a rare and wonderful thing in these times.

Seeing how low that tire is, and if he drove into the store (and I’ve never seen an auto parts store with an air chuck outside), he’s going to pay a LOT more than $2… that tire is probably all chewed up inside after being driven flat… ;-)

Had one place try to sell me a nitrogen fill, I explained the local co-op gave me a 78% nitrogen fill for free. I didn’t explain

I pull into a Les Schwab tire center and the attendant runs out and fills my tires for free (here on the Oregon coast).

My local Holiday gas station (now owned by Chevron) gives me air for free. They’ve also got the lowest price gas in my area.

The air is free, but the compressor and the operator cost.

I carry one of those small 12 volt air pumps in my vehicles. I have had tires go low because they picked up a nail or screw. I can usually pump them up enough to drive to the nearest Discount Tire store. Every time they have fixed my flats for free. I can’t remember the last time I had to install a spare tire but it has been many years.

Haha, that’s a good pun! There’s a gas station in the next town charges $1 to use their “air” and you pump it yourself, can do one or all four.

I know a place that still does it Free.

Selfishly, I’m not telling anyone where it is.

It’s just like when I was a teenager and knew where the Nickle Coke Machine was on my paper route.

I did NOT want to ruin a good thing by starting a rush of people down there to buy Cokes for a Nickle each. (The guy who Owned the machine Lost Money on every coke he sold out of that machine. It was a Benefit he gave to his Employees.)

They guy who owned it had bought the Machine years earlier and the Bottles that fit in it were a special order because they were no longer a part of Coke’s “Standard” lineup of sizes. On several occasions when it broke down, he had to have the replacement parts custom made at a local machine shop.

When he finally retired, his children decided to retire the 5 Cent coke machine because they didn’t want the hassle of special ordering the bottles and returning them to the bottling plant.
