I suppose that’s true of over familiarity with anything. I know that I am unimpressed with fireworks, having grown up next to Disneyland. They started in 1961 and by about 1965, we never went outside to watch them anymore.
@JanCin997 I also grew up next to Disneyland and watched the fireworks everynight. Back then Tink slid down the Matterhorn wire. We had year passes and went there often. My first job with a paycheck was Winnie the Pooh.
The only “trains” I’ve ever ridden were at the zoo when I was a little kid (which was kind of exciting, too . . . in its own way). I’ve never ridden an “adult” train like Amtrak but I certainly hope to someday.
I had my first cross country train trip last year across the bottom of the UK… despite also carrying around a ten-month old, his car seat, all our luggage and being severely jet-lagged, I felt like Michael. It was fabulous.
Went cross contry (australia) last month on a sleeper. Fantastic experience. Travelling all over Europe next month on trains – XP’s, sleepers, city connects… looking forward to it all! Trains are great way to see things and meet locals.

My son was just like this a week ago. Excited 7 year old first time on the train. A memory to keep forever in my heart.

Even at 40-plus, I find trains (even here in India) quite an experience… Especially 2-3 day journeys.
