That’s right, mortality is very low at that age range; then again if the parents are willing to bet if the kids are the unlucky ones of that low probability they may be aware that them (the parents) are at a high risk if the kids bring home the disease
Actually, kiddies, very few of the younger of you will actually “die” – be incapacitated for the rest of your lives with lung and cardiovascular problems? Possibly. Become orphans because you carried the virus home and you killed your families – possibly. Help spread the pandemic in ways that can’t even be imagined yet – possibly. But you personally dying – nope, ain’t gonna happen.
The only reason Betsy Devoid became secretary of education, so she could steer more mony to charter and private schools. Those are the ones that help keep the Republican reelection coffers full.
It’s the teachers that are most at risk – call one up and ask.
They will tell you, that long before Covid-19, each classroom is a giant Petri dish. It’s not just the “mystery meat” in the lunchroom that sends little Johnetta to the doctor.
Last year, natural flu rampaged here in KY from Feb-Apr 2019.. We had Little snow that winter, thanks to GW. SO ….. when over 20% of students missed due to normal flu and rhinovirus, the local boards just took a few leftover snow days.
So yeah, any educators might feel VERY uneasy about greeting over 100 new faces (to faces)……
Some WILL die. And some will take it home to parents and grandparents, some of whom will die. And even if they don’t die of it, we’re now seeing that some (many? most??) people who survive, possibly even without noting symptoms, have been injured, may have shorter or less full lives.
With the possibility of future wars and the talk of the need for another draft . . . . we’re going to see an increase in podiatrists. The poorer and middle class kids can’t afford the charter schools like the rich kids. Charter schools probably will be safer from Covid-19. If more of the rich Charter Schools kids survive the pandemic and get drafted later in life they’ll be a big demand for X-rays of bone spurs.
Good ol’ Betsy DeVoid (of conscience or consciousness). Always putting money before children (and that never, ever means putting money in front of children or causes for children, just ahead of children in any and all priorities).
I’m sorry that none of your parents can afford nice, clean private schools like me and my friends, schools with two nurses and a teacher for every student, but “Gods will be done”.
Reminds me of that line from the movie “Shrek” when the king was sending out his knights to slay the dragon and deliver Fionna to be his bride, “Some of you will die, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take”.

She is only looking out for the children’s and the country’s best interests – such a great public servant.

Is it just me or does the school building look like a skull one would see on the Day of the Dead? Well done, as usual, Lalo.

Careful Lalo! you made her look like an ugly emaciated old rich bitch – she’ll have the “police check you out”.

DeVos would never have ambulances ready, or even school busses if she could help it.
