At least he picks inanimate objects for his surgical practice. :)

The first time I got into a vacuum bag was an intense learning experience. Plus I got an extra bath. These days, I mostly use a shop type vacuum that has a filter over the sucker-device and theoretically collects the dirt in the barrel. Being so tight I squeak when I walk (and it’s not JUST my knee joints), I dig the filter off and clean it several times before I discard it. That early experience was the beginning…

At least he did not turn on the bag after opening the bag.

That would make you an engineer, not a doctor, as the vacuum isn’t alive

As the time passes by, I have less and less sympathy for Calvin. He is behaving either as as idiot or as a psychopath. Selfish to the bone. I used to love him, less and less now days…

I can imagine years down the road: “I could have been a surgeon, but my mom thwarted my attempt to become one!”

Don’t feel to bad. Even the best surgeons get in dutch trouble if they operate on their Moms rug.

They need a sign on their wall: “Calvin is not allowed to learn surgery.”

Or maybe a list would be better. The header would say “Calvin is not allowed to” and then they could just write things on the list as they came up.

I still don’t understand how one makes a vacuum cleaner. By definition, doesn’t a vacuum already have nothing in it?

It’s important to do your dissections in the right place. Outside.

You can learn a lot by dissecting the waste streams of a society . . . and the vacuum cleaner bag is a great place to start.

I love how the Mom reacts by screaming in horror. If we had to go the stock scream route, I think this one would be appropriate: https://www.sounddogs.com/media/fastpreview/Sounddogs-Preview-10295497.mp3

You don’t dissect a machine. You disassemble it. You dissect something that was living. You don’t perform surgery on a machine. You repair it.

Calvin at that time was traumatized and confused about himself for life as he was told a short time later, “Stop doing that. You’re a dirty dirty little boy.”
