Given that Phil’s interest in Connie doesn’t go beyond the “friends with benefits” aspect, he could give a rat’s patootie whether Lawrence even has a name or not! He’s not serious about her — never has been, never will be — so there’s no real point for him to learn or remember her son’s name. Once he’s gone (or done with her, whichever one comes first), they’ll both just become forgotten memories to him … until he visits Elly and her family the next time.

dsom8 – you took the words right out of my mouth – “from the mouths of babes” – often comes the truth. Whatever Connie is, Phil is still an irresponsible jerk or he wouldn’t be there leading her on.
