H P Hundt should have read that list a bit more closely. Yes, President Obama did award 123 medals, but Hollywood was not particularly heavily represented in his list. On the other hand, statesmen, scholars of various disciplines and similar people of significant attainments. Trump has awarded it to 7 sports figures in the last 3 years. Obama awarded it to 12 in the course of 8 years.

Very important influential commentator and deserving the medal. Obama gave the Medal to Oprah and Ellen Degeneres…. what makes them more influential or deserving? Please. Ellen Degeneres? Not exactly a towering intellect.

As usual, Trump has misunderstood (or deliberately negated) the original purpose of the Medal of Freedom (which is quite different from the Medal of Honor). He believes in awarding it to those who suppress Freedom.

Trump most definitely cheapened the worth and meaning of the Presidential Medal of Freedom as much as he cheapened the Purple Heart when some knucklehead supporter gave him his medal.
