Moses found those same Israelites worshiping the Golden Calf…. according to Wikipedia, “bull worship was common in many cultures,” some things never change… and they still hate those pesky, inconvenient commandments… only today we call them laws and regulations
We should start referring to Trump’s tweets as “trumperies.” It might sound like a good idea to many, until somebody points out what the definition of “trumpery” is:
1. deceit; fraud.
2. anything calculated to deceive by false show; anything externally splendid but intrinsically of little value; worthless finery.
3. things worn out and of no value; useless matter; trifles; rubbish; nonsense.
Although traditionally fond of signs and portents, some religious factions seem not to visualize that there is moralistic content in our present era opposite to what they now proclaim. The morality play, “Everyman” should be updated. Each symbolic character with its self-descriptive name would have a modern counterpart, e.g. Good Fellowship, Knowledge, Good Deeds, Strength, and Discretion.
John Bunyan’s “The Pilgrim’s Progress” might also be redone. The corrosive character “Trumpery” could then be included, along with various other characters analogous to those in present day society.
Most likely there have been parodies done in these styles over the years — but I look forward to recent updates if and when they are written. Fables and parables might enlighten more minds than opinion editorials.
Thanks Mike, I’ve been waiting for this one, what took you so long. You always get it right! A perfect example of trumpers. Try reasoning with one of them, they go off like a megaton bomb!
Agent Orange has, and will maintain come Hell or high water, the unwavering support of the Evangelicals because: (1) he is paving the road to a repeal of Roe v. Wade, and, (2) he completely backs Israel which facilitates the (theorized) timeline for Jesus’ second coming (all of which must create some cognitive dissonance for the neo-Nazi portion of his base), and, (3) they believe he will do all he can to maintain (or roll back) current gun laws; in spite of Jesus’ directive to be not afraid, the Evangelical crowd lives in terror of becoming increasingly irrelevant and needs their guns to feel secure (witness Agent Orange’s outburst about the Christianity Today editorial: “…would you rather have Radical Left nonbeliever, who wants to take your religion & your guns, than Donald Trump as your President”).
Conservative pundit (and evangelical Christian) Michael Gerson, about the famous editorial in “Christianity Today” calling for Trump’s removal from office: Trump’s swift, disproportionate, mendacious response to the editorial — falsely accusing Christianity Today of a leftist slant and promising he would never again read a magazine he has likely never read before — indicates how crucial to his political survival he believes lockstep evangelical Christian support to be. The president’s most visible evangelical Christian supporters — doing their best to mimic Trump’s tone and approach — brayed in agreement. And some conservative writers were highly critical of the editorial. My colleague Hugh Hewitt pronounced himself “bewildered” that anyone would “seek an absolutist political opinion from a website about evangelical faith.” “Whether Trump is good or bad for the republic isn’t a theological question,” said Hewitt. “It is a political one.” Evangelical institutions such as Christianity Today, in other words, should be content to stay in their lane. They should defer to the political experts. Like Fox News. Like conservative talk radio. Like conspiratorial Internet sites. Wouldn’t it be easier for all involved if evangelical Christians simply accepted the proposition that a political coalition with ethnonationalists, led by a malicious, immoral buffoon, is good for the cause of justice and for the cause of Christ? Isn’t it obvious that the appointment of conservative judges should satisfy all the other moral convictions of Christian citizens? […] Evangelical Christians will be given rhetorical deference, White House access and judges and regulations of their liking. All they need to do is set aside their criticisms of cruelty, deception, misogyny, racism and contempt for the vulnerable. All they need to do is forget decency and moral consistency.
Forgot the one about not having any other gods (Trump sees one in his mirror). Or the one about “covet”? And most of the Seven Deadly Sins. And it’s not just once with regret after: it’s standard operating procedure.
An evangelical walks into a bar. Immediately all the Nazis, pederasts, Mafia goombas, foreign spies, imbeciles, Klansmen, drug dealers, assassins, arsonists, and pathological liars get up and leave because clearly the place is going to hell.
Jesus was a Liberal who taught the most Liberal principles and ideals of any religion before or since. The hypocrisy of Evangelicals is astounding. They oppose what Jesus taught and what GOD directed. Any religion that decides they need to make more Laws than GOD made, as though HE forgot some, should never be trusted.

No, the Evangelicals always have their fall-back: “Hate the Sin, Love the Sinner!”
And Trump, why he is the biggliest Sinner Ever! So much for them to Love! Thus, his being the best thing for Christianity ever!
Jesus Wept… and now we know why.
