Clark K: I was. It was my first time. I thought Goldwater was too dumb and LBJ too dishonest, so I left the top of the ballot blank. I think the Gulf of Tonkin debacle in Viet Nam proved the point.
Actually, it’s a pretty stupid move on the GOP’s part to roadblock everything and go after Obama out of spite. They look mean-spirited (which they are) and it may well backfire, as it did when they went after Clinton the same way. Don’t they remember what happened when Newt arrogantly shut down the government? Popular opinion turned on the GOP.
^John Boehner should remember what happened to Newt Gingrich after he did that. Four, or was it six years later, he was out and Clitnon was still there
Maid, In re Belgium: Will Rogers once read that “Congress is dealocked and cannot act” and said “I believe there is hope for the country after all.” Sometimes doing nothing may be the best thing in the long run. And it always beats doing the wrong thing.
Simon, small example. As a paramedic I saw many a case where well intended people who didn’t know what they were doing did more harm than good before we got there.

If they each can drive their own driver’s front wheel, the car would be going in a circle. That sounds about right.

Learn to work together, love your country more than yourselves and your ideology or you might end up like Belgium!

And no, loving your ideology doesn’t mean loving your country. Many people in your country don’t have your ideology.

Blessed are they who run around in circles, for they shall be known as “wheels”. Even (maybe ESPECIALLY) the big ones still go flat?

Toles’ note “We have infrastructure to match” is nearly true along the East coast. I don’t know about the great state of California.
