The laws back then still apply to the people they were meant for. Its why a guy who shoots up a church full of POCs can be arrested and muzzled while a dark complected person shooting at cops gets a drone with a stick of dynamite sent to where he is held up.
The dream speech always seemed like it was meant for both blacks and whites. There was a time for enlightenment. There was a time for hypocrisy to die. There was a time for all of us to realize that we are one people. The First Nations welcomed Europeans in the beginning to their vast detriment. Europeans brought enslaved black people here to be servants and laborers with no pay. There were people who said slavery is bad we need to abolish it. Took a long time for that to happen. People pay lip service to whoever is in positions of power, when those people are bigoted it encourages bigotry among the population…. That’s the time we’re living in right now. When will the time come for all of us to realize that we are all bound together by our humanness??
preacherman says, " So the USA is still….the best place to be for freedom." Nicely stated. But could you articulate any freedoms whatsoever that you enjoy that are not shared by all Western industrialized countries? And then I’ll give you a list of freedoms I enjoy in Canada that you don’t.
We can not be satisfied – there are still people who are the victims of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. Fifty years ago – but it doesn’t like we have learned much.

“Feels like yesterday.”
That could be because there’s been so little progress… except in technology.

I was a 13 years old, living on a farm in Iowa. No blacks anywhere in our entire county. I saw my father cry that day.

Who profited from the gun murders of JFK, RFK and MLK?
The Republicans, but mostly Richard Nixon.
