Funny, you guys weren’t so concerned when they blew a $1.5 Trillion hole in the budget to give tax cuts for rich people and corporations.

Republicans passed a terrible tax cut which will expand the debt by $1.5 trillion.

The Republicans have already stated that their plan is to reduce (or maybe even eliminate) Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, etc. They already let CHIP expire.

Then the Repubs insisted on an increase in the already bloated military. The US spends 34% of the GLOBAL TOTAL spent on military (2014 numbers). Tanks are built and sent directly to storage. Missiles cost $800K EACH. Jets are designed that are beyond current technology, they’re never completed then new ones are ordered.

Trump wants $24 billion for a wall and a parade.

The Dems added funds for badly needed fixes to infrastructure. They passed the budget because they were promised that there would be work done on DACA. But the Repubs, Russian hackers and Trumpettes are still pushing the LIE that Dems care more about illegals than Americans.

Trump wants the infrastructure money to come from state and local governments after the Repubs hampered the ability for local governments to raise taxes because the tax cut bull limited the amount that can be deducted on federal taxes. Trump also wants private funds so the people can pay tolls on everything.

The deficits under Obama included the war costs added into the budget when Bush hid them in a “supplemental budget” and stimulus money was needed to drag the US out of recession. Government should go into debt during recession / depression – ask a real economist. And tax cuts are NOT stimulus.

I guess we need to elect another black dem president so Republicans will care about government debt again.

Borrowing money to pay for tax breaks for the rich by ending social programs is the Republican method of increasing debt and public anger.

The point is to spend as much tax payer money on our (GOP) ideas as possible, then borrow more as we go along. The national debt and deficit will only become a problem when the Dems gain a Congressional majority. At which time we (the GOP) will bristle at any spending bills.

The United States government, its debt and its economy are ETERNAL. There will never be a way to avoid passing it down to our children.

What we need are clever, innovative ways to manage that debt LONG TERM. Our Congress should be writing infrastructure budgets for 100 years, not 100 weeks (they can’t manage that!).

There should be a permanent budget, which needs to be reviewed and amended periodically, rather than start all over again, every time the administration changes.

Our federal budget should be a tool to fulfill the needs of the American people. Instead it is a weapon pointed at our heads, used as a threat to control or buy our obedience.

The point is cleaning up after Republicans started wars all over the globe and refused to pay for them, then borrowed money from you to pay off their rich friends. The Democrats didn’t help pay down the debt Obama nearly doubled it trying to stop the great recession and increasing military spending. At least Trump will add to the debt for billionaires and not to help any poor people.

CHEV.JAMES, the effective tax rate or actual tax rate for US corporations was in line with other countries because of deductions. Now it is lower and companies no longer need to bother with deductions. For example, Pfizer stopped researching drugs for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s because they don’t need the deduction anymore.

BOZHI, the deficits started with Reagan. Cheney famously said in 2004 “Reagan proved that deficits don’t matter.” Republicans and regressives (that call themselves conservatives) have quite a history of demonizing deficits and debt under a Democratic president while saying they’re fine under Republican presidents – or they try to blame Dems while Repubs give the tax cuts and boost the bloated military.
