You can’t ignore the news, but yeah, take a break every once in a while.

The world’s problems and injustices will always be there, and we all need to engage. But we don’t have to be consumed by them. Step back, relax, breathe… the problems will be waiting for you when you’re ready.

The evening news should just be called “Here’s What’s Wrong”…

Every once in awhile, we need to pull the plug on the news, switch off the world’s ugliness and pain, and just chill out !

Even if it’s only for a few moments, a little disconnection from the harsh realities, helps.

It’s far more therapeutic to listen to my grandchildren’s giggles and laughter, than to watch the latest political folly on the news.

I listen to my local news long enough to get the weather and to see if my sports teams won. No network news, no cable news.

Sometimes the best thing on TV is the off button.

That’s exactly what I do, go spend time in nature, and it works every time.

My local NBC affiliate runs Johnny Carson reruns from 10:30 pm to 11:30 pm. Best night time television then, best night time television now.

Todays MSM is obsessed with Trump and tweets. Spending most of its 22 minutes on them every night. Look at MSNBC or yes, even FNS and all you get for the entire evening is the exact same item over and over, with different hosts every hour. And none of it means a damn thing

This is why I don’t watch the news on TV anymore.

My wife and I ( with the assistance of her brother ) built a casa de campo out in the country, away from everything and everybody. No television, no internet, electricity but no running water. Our bamboo, cane and wood cottage is the ideal decompression chamber. A friend of our made us a plaque for the front door that reads Casa de Los Abuelo

Can anyone help me find the date for this old “The Big Picture” strip?: Lennie is depressed after watching the news and seeing nothing but bad stuff in the world. In the last frame, he has the comics section spread out around him, with little cartoon hearts swirling around his head as he reads his favorites. Loved that strip!
