The political parties took the power away from the people by essentially lying to them about their intent to represent them, then by adding the EC to prevent the, then uneducated electorate, from being deceived by a populist candidate, cemented their power in place. Instead of eliminating the EC as communications and educational resources improved, the EC was preserved to serve the opposite purpose as political gerrymandering and our electioneering dirty trick proliferated. Now we have a government that serves the wealthy and parties that offer so few candidates that would actually serve the public, that our elections mock the very concept of a democratic-republic and our news is all editorialized and propagandized to maintain political divisions.

“This is so bad. We have just gotten list of amendments to be included in bill NOT from our R colleagues, but from lobbyists downtown. None of us have seen this list, but lobbyists have it. Need I say more? Disgusting. And we probably will not even be given time to read them.”
