There are in fact solid reasons for shunning Dixie Cups (and Dixie paper products generally). They’re products of Koch Industries. They were part of the Georgia Pacific line of paper-derived products, and Koch Industries bought GP lock, stock, and Dixie.
One of the major aspects of our rich society is is its profligate waste. Energy is one area where we are still so wasteful. LEDs come in all colors, are as bright, but use only 4% of an incandescent bulb. Too much energy was converted to useless heat before.
