There are 2 rules to remember about «nouvelle cuisine» (new cooking style)The food must be absolutely inedible and served in very tiny servingsActually, it’s a new WA culinary joke.
There’s a USAA insurance commercial where the big tough soldier and his Army buddies are eating at his sister’s restaurant, and served a tiny frog leg apiece.
I love to cook and I realize that presentation and eye appeal is important but dammit, if I’m going to spend a ridiculous amount of money in a fancy restaurant, I want a full meal not some itty-bitty portion of god-knows-what that wouldn’t satisfy the hunger of a mouse !
I just love how Americans, who have not seen real warfare in their homes, laugh at the French for “losing” the war. The French resistance was broken by fifth column Nazi sympathizers who infiltrated the underground. Given how splintered we are, even in our own parties, I can easily see the US making the same mistakes if war ever came to our shore.
Hell, we have people demanding a wall our our southern border. Apparently, they learned nothing from the failure of the Maginot Line.

German Chocolate is not German. The recipe was developed by a gentleman whose last name was German. He was Texan.

First of all, I like Woody Allen. My favorite Woody Allen flick is Sleeper, a wonderful combination of political satire and slapstick comedy.
Here is the scene from Annie Hall this strip is referring to:
