    When I was working in England there was a theatre in the town where I lived where you could get either salted or sweet popcorn. They did not even make it at the theater it was brought in in plastic bags and poured into large bins. The bins were side by side so even if you bought salted popcorn you would still get some sweet due to the spillage from the other bin.
