My dog Shilo absolutely loves going to the vet’s. When we go there he gets so happy and excited and can’t wait to see everyone. The reason being is right from when he was a 6 week old puppy we took him to get his shots and everyone there was just so kind, loving and friendly towards him. He sees everyone there as his friends who are there to look after him and play with him. Everytime we go to the vets to get his food or his worming and flea medication he comes with us so when he has to go for his shots or just a check up or even if he needs medical attention he is not scared as he more associates the vets as a nice place to go and not just a place where he gets pushed add prodded by someone. And the vets love seeing him too and they encouraged bringing him into see them especially when he’s healthy as it positively helps him associate the vets with fun and friendship so he would build up a great deal of trust with the vet and he would see him as a friend which is wonderful and much needed for any medical attention he might need. It’s a good idea to do this with a young pet for their sake as if they were really sick or injured, being scared would just make the appointment worse for them and harder for the vet and owner, but if the pet was familiar and had already a good relationship with the vet the appointment would be much better all round for everyone. And there is not a vet in the world who would not love to see his patients even when they’re healthy and to have the chance to make friends with them . They are all animal lovers after all , if they weren’t they would be doing a different job.

I read once that a police K9 unit answered a call for a break-in. They went to the back of the building and the dog went in, then quickly came back outside. The trainer was thinking “what the heck has scared my fearless police dog?!” and then noticed that it was a vet clinic.

Was it a Farside cartoon which had the enthusiastic dog in the car, telling his buddies “I’m going to get tutored!”?
