I see this a metaphorical representation of creative conflict, both acute and protracted, with the Overlords.
Acute: The snowy foreground, unbudded leafless trees, and overall drab lifeless mise en scène are a clear Shakespearean reference to the universally disliked new GoComics’ platform (“Now is the winter of our discontent.”).
Chronic: The trees represent the many Overlordian obstacles between creators and success. The two stumps, scissors and parsimonious copy evoke the struggle to strike down obstacles with the mighty blades of ordinary household instruments and the hammer of not over wordifying.
Or maybe Teresa picked out a random image, threw in a tool, added a few words and headed to the mailbox to collect her royalty check.
@Rotifer Thalweg. I’m going with your metaphorical representation of creative conflict. Teresa can run but she can’t hide from readers like you who have unencrypted her mysterious thinking processes. Your analysis was great… I fondly remember your daily offering of MY FAVORITE PART WAS THE - (deer scat next to the stump).
“You cannot simply take,” he said. “You must give first, and bestow your blessings, so that a greater fluidity is achieved in which what you desire is freely given.”
I contemplated his wisdom for a moment, and then I swatted him.

Of course, it’s a way of life. I’ve always been a square peg in a world full of round holes.

I will guess someone hacked GoComics and shut down many of the political and other cartoons.

If a tree falls in the forest and I don’t have an app for that, does social media feel my resistance?

@RANSOMKNOTTS. I didn’t see the deer scat until you mentioned it. Good eye!

A nice message, and impressively detailed art. Well done, Teresa.
