I haven’t heard too much of any of those (thank goodness), nor have I heard too much of Bruce Springsteen’s holiday offerings. Helps I have 4 stations to choose from :)

Yeah, turning the whole “We Are The World” concept into Christmas songs is not a good thing, IMHO. I prefer the old-school songs – Nothing says ‘Christmas’ like Deano…

I’m playing our “Dr. Demento’s Greatest Xmas Hits” CD, with songs like a duet with Wildman Fisher on “I’m a Christmas Tree”, “I’m getting nutting for Christmas” and other wacky favorites.

We have one local station that went all Christmas in November, and I have heard every song mentioned on it multiple times. Then I found the local Christian station that plays all Christmas during the day. They play the old hymns and carols as well as the uplifting secular songs. No downers at all.

Yeah I have 4 different ‘Messiahs’ thanks to used CD’s. Also love the Medieval Babes album. Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong. Odetta, Pete Seeger, Dean Martin, Doris Day, Loreena McKinnet,Mel Torme, The Waitresses song is fun,….gosh I like a lot of it. From after Thanksgiving until Christmas Day. Then I’m done for a year.

There are a lot of good Christmas songs out there, but you have to look for them. Number one hint: you’re least likely to find them on commercial stations. This is an especially good time of year to get to know your public stations.
