Elly’s view that she is not less of a human being just because she does not have a piece of paper is well put. Unfortunately, North America is an education crazy society, with the teachers union have done an excellent job of portraying dropouts as second class citizens. By all means, if any readers have a degree or diploma, good for you. Just making the point it does not automatically imply the educated are better than the unwashed masses. As one prison warden said “I have enough PhDs in my prison to start a fully staffed university.”

So YOU can go treat John’s patients if he can’t make it into work today, Elly? You are NOT equals on the job front because your positions are entirely different and YOU can be replaced if YOU’RE not available far more easily than he can if HE’S not available!

I’ve got a better idea. Why doesn’t Elly take him to work, then pick him up in the evening? That would undoubtedly be cheaper than a taxi both ways.

Considering that the average car is parked 97% of the time, and is used for actual driving only 3% of the time, during any given year, taking public transit or a taxi is the better choice.

John can call for a Lyft.
